三十個首領之中有三個人下到亞杜蘭山寨巖石那裏去見大衛；非利士人的兵團在利乏音山谷紮營。那時大衛在那山寨；非利士人的駐防營那時在伯利恆。大衛渴想着說：『啊，誰能將城門旁邊伯利恆井的水給我喝啊！』這三個勇士就闖過非利士人的軍營，從城門旁邊伯利恆井裏去打水，拿起來，帶到大衛那裏；大衛不情願喝，反而奠在永恆主面前，說：『永恆主啊，我絕對不作這事。這豈不是冒命而去的人的血麼？』他不情願喝。這是三個勇士所作的事。洗魯雅的兒子約押的兄弟亞比篩是三十勇士級的首領。他揮了矛刺死三百人，就得了名像三勇士一樣。在三十勇士級裏他是最尊貴的，所以他做他們的隊長；只是還沒有達到三勇士的等級。耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、是甲薛有力氣的人，曾行過大有作為的事；他擊殺了摩押兩隻小獅；又在下雪的日子下到坑中去擊殺一隻獅子。他又擊殺了一個埃及人、一個體格很好的人。這埃及人手裏拿着矛；比拿雅只拿着棍子下去，竟從埃及人手裏將矛奪過來，又用他的矛將他殺死。耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅行了這些事，他就得了名、像三勇士一樣。在三十勇士級裏他是尊貴的，只是還沒有達到三勇士的等級。大衛立他做衛隊長。三十個勇士之中有約押的兄弟亞撒黑，伯利恆朵多的兒子伊勒哈難，哈律人沙瑪，哈律人以利加，帕勒提人希利斯，提哥亞人益吉的兒子以拉，亞拿突人亞比以謝，戶沙人米本乃，亞合人撒們，尼陀法人瑪哈萊，尼陀法人巴拿的兒子希立，便雅憫子孫基比亞人利拜的兒子乙太，比拉頓人比拿雅，迦實溪人希太，亞拉巴人亞比亞本，巴魯米人押斯瑪弗，沙本人以利雅哈巴，沽尼人雅善，哈拉人沙瑪的兒子約拿單，哈拉人沙拉的兒子亞希暗，瑪迦人的兒子亞哈拜的兒子以利法列，基羅人亞希多弗的兒子以連，迦密人希斯萊，亞巴人帕萊，瑣巴人拿單的兒子以甲，迦得人巴尼，亞捫人洗勒，比錄人拿哈萊；拿哈萊是給洗魯雅的兒子約押拿軍器的護兵，以帖人以拉，以帖人迦立，赫人烏利亞：一共三十七人。
