Psalms52

The Steadfast Love of God Endures
To the choirmaster. A Maskil52:1 Probably a musical or liturgical term of David, when 52:0 1 Sam. 22:9Doeg, the Edomite, came and told Saul, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”

1Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man?
The steadfast love of God endures all the day.
2Your 52:2 Ps. 50:19tongue plots destruction,
like 52:2 [Ps. 57:4] a sharp razor, you 52:2 Ps. 101:7worker of deceit.
3You love evil more than good,
and 52:3 [Jer. 9:4, 5]lying more than speaking what is right. Selah
4You love all words that devour,
O deceitful tongue.

5But God will break you down forever;
he will snatch and 52:5 Prov. 2:22tear you from your tent;
he will uproot you from 52:5 See Ps. 27:13the land of the living. Selah
6The righteous shall 52:6 See Ps. 40:3see and fear,
and shall 52:6 See Ps. 2:4laugh at him, saying,
7“See the man who would not make
God his refuge,
but 52:7 See Ps. 49:6trusted in the abundance of his riches
and sought refuge in his own destruction!”52:7 Or in his work of destruction

8But I am like 52:8 Jer. 11:16; [Ps. 1:3; 37:35; 92:12, 13; 128:3; 144:12; Hos. 14:6]a green olive tree
in the house of God.
I trust in the steadfast love of God
forever and ever.
9I will thank you forever,
because you have done it.
I will wait for your name, 52:9 Ps. 54:6for it is good,
in the presence of the 52:9 See Ps. 50:5godly.
