1The word of the Lord that came to Micah 1:1 [ver. 14] of Moresheth 1:1 Isa. 1:1in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw 1:1 Amos 1:1concerning 1:1 Isa. 7:9; Jer. 23:13Samaria and Jerusalem.
The Coming Destruction
21:2 ch. 3:1, 9; 6:1, 2; See Hos. 5:1Hear, you peoples, all of you;1:2 Hebrew all of them
1:2 See Isa. 1:2pay attention, O earth, and all that is in it,
and 1:2 Mal. 3:5let the Lord God be a witness against you,
1:2 Ps. 11:4; Jonah 2:7; Hab. 2:20the Lord from his holy temple.
3For behold, 1:3 Isa. 26:21the Lord is coming out of 1:3 Ps. 115:3his place,
and will come down and 1:3 Amos 4:13; [Deut. 32:13]tread upon the high places of the earth.
4And 1:4 Ps. 97:5; [Judg. 5:5; Amos 9:5, 13; Nah. 1:5]the mountains will melt under him,
and the valleys will split open,
like wax before the fire,
like waters poured down a steep place.
5All this is for 1:5 See ch. 3:8the transgression of Jacob
and for the sins of the house of Israel.
1:5 [ver. 13] What is the transgression of Jacob?
Is it not 1:5 [See ver. 1above] Samaria?
And what is 1:5 [2 Chr. 28:4]the high place of Judah?
Is it not Jerusalem?
6Therefore I will make 1:6 [See ver. 1above] Samaria 1:6 [ch. 3:12] a heap in the open country,
a place for planting vineyards,
and I will pour down her stones 1:6 [1 Kgs. 16:24] into the valley
and 1:6 Ezek. 13:14uncover her foundations.
7All 1:7 [Hos. 8:6] her carved images shall be beaten to pieces,
1:7 [Hos. 2:12; 9:1]all her wages shall be burned with fire,
and all her idols I will lay waste,
for from 1:7 [Hos. 2:12; 9:1]the fee of a prostitute she gathered them,
and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.

81:8 [Isa. 22:4] For this I will lament and wail;
I will go 1:8 See Isa. 20:2-4stripped and naked;
I will make lamentation 1:8 Job 30:29; Ps. 44:19like the jackals,
and mourning 1:8 Isa. 13:21like the ostriches.
91:9 [Hos. 5:13]For her wound is incurable,
and it has come to Judah;
it has reached to the gate of my people,
to Jerusalem.

101:10 2 Sam. 1:20Tell it not in 1:10 See 1 Sam. 17:4Gath;
weep not at all;
in Beth-le-aphrah
1:10 [Jer. 6:26]roll yourselves in the dust.
11Pass on your way,
inhabitants of Shaphir,
1:11 [Isa. 20:4; 47:3]in nakedness and shame;
the inhabitants of Zaanan
do not come out;
the lamentation of Beth-ezel
shall take away from you its standing place.
12For the inhabitants of Maroth
wait anxiously for good,
because disaster has come down 1:12 See Amos 3:6from the Lord
to the gate of Jerusalem.
13Harness the steeds to the chariots,
inhabitants of 1:13 Josh. 10:3; 2 Kgs. 18:14, 17; 2 Chr. 32:9Lachish;
it was the beginning of sin
to the daughter of Zion,
for in you were found
1:13 [ver. 5; Hos. 13:1]the transgressions of Israel.
14Therefore you shall give parting gifts1:14 Or give dowry
to 1:14 [ver. 1] Moresheth-gath;
the houses of 1:14 Josh. 15:44Achzib shall be a deceitful thing
to the kings of Israel.
15I will again bring 1:15 [ch. 2:4; Jer. 6:12] a conqueror to you,
inhabitants of 1:15 [See ver. 14above] Mareshah;
the glory of Israel
shall come to 1:15 See 1 Sam. 22:1, 2Adullam.
161:16 See Isa. 22:12Make yourselves bald and cut off your hair,
for the children of your delight;
1:16 See Isa. 22:12make yourselves as bald as the eagle,
for they shall go from you into exile.
