Prophecy Against Ammon

1The word of the Lord came to me:

225:2 See ch. 2:1“Son of man, 25:2 See ch. 6:2set your face toward 25:2 ch. 21:20, 28; See Jer. 49:1-6the Ammonites and prophesy against them.

3Say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord God: 25:3 ch. 2:4; 3:11, 27Thus says the Lord God, Because you said, 25:3 ch. 26:2; 36:2‘Aha!’ over my 25:3 See ch. 7:22sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when they went into exile,

4therefore behold, I am handing you over to 25:4 Judg. 6:3the people of the East for a possession, and they shall set their encampments among you and make their dwellings in your midst. They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk.

5I will make 25:5 2 Sam. 11:1; 12:26; See ch. 21:20Rabbah a 25:5 [Zeph. 2:15] pasture for camels and Ammon25:5 Hebrew and the Ammonites25:5 [Zeph. 2:15] a fold for flocks. 25:5 [See ch. 24:27above]Then you will know that I am the Lord.

6For thus says the Lord God: Because 25:6 Ps. 98:8; Isa. 55:12you have clapped your hands 25:6 [ch. 6:11] and stamped your feet and 25:6 [Zeph. 2:8, 10] rejoiced with all the 25:6 ver. 15; ch. 36:5malice within your soul against the land of Israel,

7therefore, behold, 25:7 See ch. 6:14I have stretched out my hand against you, and 25:7 [ver. 4; ch. 7:21]will hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Prophecy Against Moab and Seir

8“Thus says the Lord God: Because 25:8 See Isa. 15:1-9; Jer. 48:1-47Moab and 25:8 See ver. 12Seir25:8 Septuagint lacks and Seir said, ‘Behold, the 25:8 See Jer. 25:17-26house of Judah is like all the other nations,’

9therefore 25:9 [See ver. 8above] I will lay open the flank of Moab from the cities, from its cities on its frontier, the glory of the country, 25:9 Josh. 12:3Beth-jeshimoth, 25:9 1 Chr. 5:8Baal-meon, and 25:9 See Jer. 48:1Kiriathaim.

10I will give it 25:10 ver. 2along with the Ammonites 25:10 ver. 4to the people of the East as a possession, 25:10 ch. 21:32that the Ammonites may be remembered no more among the nations,

1125:11 [See ver. 8above] and I will execute judgments upon Moab. 25:11 See ch. 6:7Then they will know that I am the Lord.

Prophecy Against Edom

12“Thus says the Lord God: Because 25:12 ver. 8; ch. 32:29; 35:2, 5; 2 Chr. 28:17; Ps. 137:7; Isa. 21:11; 34:5; Amos 1:11, 12; See Jer. 49:7-22; Obad. 1-21Edom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended 25:12 ver. 15in taking vengeance on them,

13therefore thus says the Lord God, 25:13 See ch. 6:14I will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off from it man and beast. And I will make it desolate; from 25:13 1 Chr. 1:45; Amos 1:12Teman even to 25:13 ch. 27:15, 20; 38:13; Isa. 21:13Dedan they shall fall by the sword.

14And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom 25:14 Amos 9:12; Obad. 18by the hand of my people Israel, and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath, and 25:14 [ver. 17]they shall know my vengeance, declares the Lord God.

Prophecy Against Philistia

15“Thus says the Lord God: Because 25:15 Jer. 25:20; 47:1; Joel 3:4; Amos 1:6; Zeph. 2:4; See Isa. 14:29-31the Philistines 25:15 ver. 12acted revengefully and took vengeance 25:15 ver. 6; ch. 36:5with malice of soul to destroy in never-ending enmity,

16therefore thus says the Lord God, 25:16 [See ver. 13above] Behold, I will stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off 25:16 See 1 Sam. 30:14the Cherethites and destroy the rest of the seacoast.

17I will execute great vengeance on them 25:17 ch. 5:15with wrathful rebukes. 25:17 [ver. 14]Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.”
