  • Romans 14:20 - Do not, for the sake of food, tear down the work of God. All things indeed are [ceremonially] clean, but they are wrong for the person who eats and offends [another’s conscience in the process].
  • Romans 14:21 - It is good [to do the right thing and] not eat meat or drink wine, or do anything that offends your brother and weakens him spiritually.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:21 - But test all things carefully [so you can recognize what is good]. Hold firmly to that which is good.
  • Ephesians 5:10 - trying to learn [by experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [and letting your lifestyles be examples of what is most acceptable to Him—your behavior expressing gratitude to God for your salvation].
  • 1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit [speaking through a self-proclaimed prophet]; instead test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets and teachers have gone out into the world.
  • Romans 2:18 - and [if you claim to] know His will and approve the things that are essential or have a sense of what is excellent, based on your instruction from the Law,
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:23 - Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • 1 Thessalonians 3:13 - so that He may strengthen and establish your hearts without blame in holiness in the sight of our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints (God’s people).
  • Romans 12:2 - And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
