Hosea 4:2 - People curse one another. They tell lies and commit murder. They steal and commit adultery. They break all my laws. They keep spilling the blood of other people.
Hosea 4:3 - That is why the land is drying up. All those who live in it are getting weaker and weaker. The wild animals and the birds in the sky are dying. So are the fish in the ocean.
Deuteronomy 21:1 - Suppose you find someone who has been killed. The body is lying in a field in the land the Lord your God is giving you as your own. But no one knows who the killer was.
Deuteronomy 21:2 - Then your elders and judges will go out to the field. They will measure the distance from the body to the nearby towns.
Deuteronomy 21:3 - The elders from the town that is nearest to the body will get a young cow. It must never have been used for work. It must never have pulled a load.
Deuteronomy 21:4 - The elders must lead it down into a valley. The valley must not have been farmed. There must be a stream flowing through it. There in the valley the elders must break the cow’s neck.
Deuteronomy 21:5 - The priests, who are sons of Levi, will step forward. The Lord your God has chosen them to serve him. He wants them to bless the people in his name. He wants them to decide all cases that have to do with people arguing and attacking others.
Deuteronomy 21:6 - Then all the elders from the town that is nearest to the body will wash their hands. They will wash them over the young cow whose neck they broke in the valley.
Deuteronomy 21:7 - They’ll say to the Lord, “We didn’t kill that person. We didn’t see it happen.
Deuteronomy 21:8 - Accept this payment for the sin of your people Israel. Lord, you have set your people free. Don’t hold them guilty for spilling the blood of someone who hasn’t done anything wrong.” That will pay for the death of that person.
2 Kings 24:4 - Manasseh had spilled the blood of many people who weren’t guilty of doing anything wrong. In fact, he spilled so much of their blood that he filled Jerusalem with it. So the Lord refused to forgive him.
Psalm 106:38 - They killed those who weren’t guilty of doing anything wrong. They killed their own sons and daughters. They sacrificed them as offerings to statues of the gods of Canaan. The land became “unclean” because of the blood of their children.
Genesis 9:6 - “Anyone who murders a human being will be killed by a human being. That is because I have made human beings so that they are like me.
Micah 4:11 - But now many nations have gathered together to attack you. They say, “Let Jerusalem be made ‘unclean.’ We want to laugh when Zion suffers!”
