2 Samuel 15:12 - While Absalom was offering sacrifices, he sent for Ahithophel. Ahithophel was David’s adviser. He came to Absalom from Giloh, his hometown. The number of people who followed Absalom kept growing. So he became more and more able to carry out his plans against David.
Ezra 4:1 - The people who had returned from Babylon were building a temple to honor the Lord. He is the God of Israel. The enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard about it.
Ezra 4:2 - Then those enemies came to Zerubbabel. The family leaders of Israel were with him. The enemies said, “We want to help you build. We’re just like you. We worship your God. We offer sacrifices to him. We’ve been doing that ever since the time of Esarhaddon. He was king of Assyria. He brought our people here.”
1 Kings 19:2 - So Jezebel sent a message to Elijah. She said, “You can be sure that I will kill you, just as I killed the other prophets. I’ll do it by this time tomorrow. If I don’t, may the gods punish me greatly.”
Lamentations 3:37 - Suppose people order something to happen. It won’t happen unless the Lord has planned it.
2 Kings 10:18 - Then Jehu brought together all the people. He said to them, “Ahab served the god named Baal a little. I will serve him a lot.
2 Kings 10:19 - Send for all of Baal’s prophets. Also send for all his priests and the others who serve him. Make sure that not a single one is missing. I’m going to hold a great sacrifice to honor Baal. Anyone who doesn’t come will be killed.” But Jehu was lying to them. He was planning to destroy everyone who served Baal.
Psalm 55:11 - Forces that destroy are at work inside it. Its streets are full of people who cheat others and take advantage of them.
Psalm 55:12 - If an enemy were making fun of me, I could stand it. If he were getting ready to oppose me, I could hide.
Psalm 55:13 - But it’s you, someone like myself. It’s my companion, my close friend.
Psalm 55:14 - We used to enjoy good friendship at the house of God. We used to walk together among those who came to worship.
Psalm 55:15 - Let death take my enemies by surprise. Let them be buried alive, because their hearts and homes are full of evil.
Jeremiah 41:5 - On that day 80 men came from Shechem, Shiloh and Samaria. They had shaved off their beards. They had torn their clothes. And they had cut themselves. They brought grain offerings and incense with them. They took them to the Lord’s house.
Jeremiah 41:6 - Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, went out from Mizpah to meet them. He was weeping as he went. When he met them, he said, “Come to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam.”
Jeremiah 41:7 - They went with him into the city. Then Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and the men who were with him killed them. And they threw them into an empty well.
Proverbs 21:30 - No wisdom, wise saying or plan can succeed against the Lord.
Psalm 12:2 - Everyone tells lies to their neighbors. With their lips they praise others, but they don’t really mean it.
Psalm 12:3 - May the Lord close all lips that don’t mean what they say. May he stop every tongue that brags.
Job 5:12 - He stops the evil plans of those who are clever. The work of their hands doesn’t succeed.
Job 5:13 - Some people think they are so wise. But God catches them in their own tricks. He sweeps away the evil plans of sinful people.
2 Samuel 17:14 - Absalom and all the men of Israel agreed. They said, “The advice of Hushai, the Arkite, is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” The Lord had decided that Ahithophel’s good advice would fail. The Lord wanted to bring horrible trouble on Absalom.
Proverbs 26:24 - Enemies use their words as a mask. They hide their evil plans in their hearts.
Proverbs 26:25 - Even though what they say can be charming, don’t believe them. That’s because seven things God hates fill that person’s heart.
1 Corinthians 3:19 - The wisdom of this world is foolish in God’s eyes. It is written, “God catches wise people in their own evil plans.” ( Job 5:13 )
1 Corinthians 3:20 - It is also written, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of wise people don’t amount to anything.” ( Psalm 94:11 )
Psalm 33:10 - The Lord blocks the sinful plans of the nations. He keeps them from doing what they want to do.
Psalm 33:11 - But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever. What he wants to do will last for all time.
Matthew 26:48 - Judas, who was going to hand Jesus over, had arranged a signal with them. “The one I kiss is the man,” he said. “Arrest him.”
Matthew 26:49 - So Judas went to Jesus at once. He said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
Luke 20:20 - The religious leaders sent spies to keep a close watch on Jesus. The spies pretended to be sincere. They hoped they could trap Jesus with something he would say. Then they could hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.
Luke 20:21 - So the spies questioned Jesus. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you speak and teach what is right. We know you don’t favor one person over another. You teach the way of God truthfully.
