  • Jeremiah 28:11 - And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, “Thus says the Lord: Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all the nations within two years.” But Jeremiah the prophet went his way.
  • Jeremiah 28:12 - Sometime after the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke-bars from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah:
  • Jeremiah 28:13 - “Go, tell Hananiah, ‘Thus says the Lord: You have broken wooden bars, but you have made in their place bars of iron.
  • Jeremiah 28:14 - For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have put upon the neck of all these nations an iron yoke to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they shall serve him, for I have given to him even the beasts of the field.’”
  • Jeremiah 18:2 - “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words.”
  • Jeremiah 18:3 - So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel.
  • Jeremiah 18:4 - And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.
  • Jeremiah 18:5 - Then the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Jeremiah 18:6 - “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
  • Jeremiah 18:7 - If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it,
  • Jeremiah 18:8 - and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it.
  • Jeremiah 18:9 - And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it,
  • Jeremiah 18:10 - and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it.
  • Ezekiel 24:3 - And utter a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: “Set on the pot, set it on; pour in water also;
  • Ezekiel 24:4 - put in it the pieces of meat, all the good pieces, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with choice bones.
  • Ezekiel 24:5 - Take the choicest one of the flock; pile the logs under it; boil it well; seethe also its bones in it.
  • Ezekiel 24:6 - “Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose corrosion is in it, and whose corrosion has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice.
  • Ezekiel 24:7 - For the blood she has shed is in her midst; she put it on the bare rock; she did not pour it out on the ground to cover it with dust.
  • Ezekiel 24:8 - To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered.
  • Ezekiel 24:9 - Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.
  • Ezekiel 24:10 - Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil the meat well, mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned up.
  • Ezekiel 24:11 - Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, that its uncleanness may be melted in it, its corrosion consumed.
  • Ezekiel 24:12 - She has wearied herself with toil; its abundant corrosion does not go out of it. Into the fire with its corrosion!
  • Jeremiah 19:1 - Thus says the Lord, “Go, buy a potter’s earthenware flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders of the priests,
  • Jeremiah 19:2 - and go out to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom at the entry of the Potsherd Gate, and proclaim there the words that I tell you.
  • Jeremiah 19:3 - You shall say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing such disaster upon this place that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle.
  • Jeremiah 19:4 - Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents,
  • Jeremiah 19:5 - and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind—
  • Jeremiah 19:6 - therefore, behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when this place shall no more be called Topheth, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
  • Jeremiah 19:7 - And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth.
  • Jeremiah 19:8 - And I will make this city a horror, a thing to be hissed at. Everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its wounds.
  • Jeremiah 19:9 - And I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his neighbor in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies and those who seek their life afflict them.’
  • Jeremiah 19:10 - “Then you shall break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you,
  • Jeremiah 19:11 - and shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, so that it can never be mended. Men shall bury in Topheth because there will be no place else to bury.
  • Amos 7:4 - This is what the Lord God showed me: behold, the Lord God was calling for a judgment by fire, and it devoured the great deep and was eating up the land.
  • Isaiah 20:2 - at that time the Lord spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and loose the sackcloth from your waist and take off your sandals from your feet,” and he did so, walking naked and barefoot.
  • Isaiah 20:3 - Then the Lord said, “As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a portent against Egypt and Cush,
  • Isaiah 20:4 - so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptian captives and the Cushite exiles, both the young and the old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered, the nakedness of Egypt.
  • Amos 7:1 - This is what the Lord God showed me: behold, he was forming locusts when the latter growth was just beginning to sprout, and behold, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
  • 1 Kings 11:30 - Then Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it into twelve pieces.
  • 1 Kings 11:31 - And he said to Jeroboam, “Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I am about to tear the kingdom from the hand of Solomon and will give you ten tribes
  • Ezekiel 4:1 - “And you, son of man, take a brick and lay it before you, and engrave on it a city, even Jerusalem.
  • Ezekiel 4:2 - And put siegeworks against it, and build a siege wall against it, and cast up a mound against it. Set camps also against it, and plant battering rams against it all around.
  • Ezekiel 4:3 - And you, take an iron griddle, and place it as an iron wall between you and the city; and set your face toward it, and let it be in a state of siege, and press the siege against it. This is a sign for the house of Israel.
  • Ezekiel 4:4 - “Then lie on your left side, and place the punishment of the house of Israel upon it. For the number of the days that you lie on it, you shall bear their punishment.
  • Ezekiel 4:5 - For I assign to you a number of days, 390 days, equal to the number of the years of their punishment. So long shall you bear the punishment of the house of Israel.
  • Ezekiel 12:1 - The word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 12:2 - “Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house.
  • Ezekiel 12:3 - As for you, son of man, prepare for yourself an exile’s baggage, and go into exile by day in their sight. You shall go like an exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house.
  • Ezekiel 12:4 - You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for exile, and you shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as those do who must go into exile.
  • Ezekiel 12:5 - In their sight dig through the wall, and bring your baggage out through it.
  • Ezekiel 12:6 - In their sight you shall lift the baggage upon your shoulder and carry it out at dusk. You shall cover your face that you may not see the land, for I have made you a sign for the house of Israel.”
  • Ezekiel 12:7 - And I did as I was commanded. I brought out my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands. I brought out my baggage at dusk, carrying it on my shoulder in their sight.
  • Ezekiel 12:8 - In the morning the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 12:9 - “Son of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘What are you doing?’
  • Ezekiel 12:10 - Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: This oracle concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel who are in it.’
  • Ezekiel 12:11 - Say, ‘I am a sign for you: as I have done, so shall it be done to them. They shall go into exile, into captivity.’
  • Ezekiel 12:12 - And the prince who is among them shall lift his baggage upon his shoulder at dusk, and shall go out. They shall dig through the wall to bring him out through it. He shall cover his face, that he may not see the land with his eyes.
  • Ezekiel 12:13 - And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare. And I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, yet he shall not see it, and he shall die there.
  • Ezekiel 12:14 - And I will scatter toward every wind all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops, and I will unsheathe the sword after them.
  • Ezekiel 12:15 - And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them among the countries.
  • Ezekiel 12:16 - But I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the Lord.”
  • Ezekiel 12:17 - And the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 12:18 - “Son of man, eat your bread with quaking, and drink water with trembling and with anxiety.
  • Ezekiel 12:19 - And say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord God concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink water in dismay. In this way her land will be stripped of all it contains, on account of the violence of all those who dwell in it.
  • Ezekiel 12:20 - And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
  • Ezekiel 12:21 - And the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 12:22 - “Son of man, what is this proverb that you have about the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing’?
  • Ezekiel 12:23 - Tell them therefore, ‘Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel.’ But say to them, The days are near, and the fulfillment of every vision.
  • Ezekiel 12:24 - For there shall be no more any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.
  • Ezekiel 12:25 - For I am the Lord; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord God.”
  • Ezekiel 12:26 - And the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 12:27 - “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’
  • Ezekiel 12:28 - Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord God.”
  • Jeremiah 27:12 - To Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke in like manner: “Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people and live.
  • Jeremiah 13:1 - Thus says the Lord to me, “Go and buy a linen loincloth and put it around your waist, and do not dip it in water.”
  • Jeremiah 13:2 - So I bought a loincloth according to the word of the Lord, and put it around my waist.
  • Jeremiah 13:3 - And the word of the Lord came to me a second time,
  • Jeremiah 13:4 - “Take the loincloth that you have bought, which is around your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”
  • Jeremiah 13:5 - So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.
  • Jeremiah 13:6 - And after many days the Lord said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take from there the loincloth that I commanded you to hide there.”
  • Jeremiah 13:7 - Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and I took the loincloth from the place where I had hidden it. And behold, the loincloth was spoiled; it was good for nothing.
  • Jeremiah 13:8 - Then the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Jeremiah 13:9 - “Thus says the Lord: Even so will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
  • Jeremiah 13:10 - This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who stubbornly follow their own heart and have gone after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be like this loincloth, which is good for nothing.
  • Jeremiah 13:11 - For as the loincloth clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, declares the Lord, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory, but they would not listen.
