But the Israelites hadn’t been able to kill all of them. Solomon forced them to work very hard as his slaves. And they still work for Israel as slaves to this day.
  • 2 Samuel 12:31 - He brought out the people who were there. He made them work with saws and iron picks and axes. He forced them to make bricks. David did that to all the towns in Ammon. Then he and his entire army returned to Jerusalem.
  • Psalm 21:8 - You, the king, will capture all your enemies. Your right hand will take hold of them.
  • Psalm 21:9 - When you appear for battle, you will burn them up like they were in a flaming furnace. The Lord will swallow them up in his great anger. His fire will burn them up.
  • Judges 8:16 - Gideon went and got the elders of the town. Then he taught the men of Sukkoth a lesson. He tore their skin with thorns from desert bushes.
  • Judges 8:17 - He also pulled down the tower at Peniel. He killed the men in the town.
  • Exodus 1:14 - The people suffered because of their hard labor. The slave drivers forced them to work with bricks and mud. And they made them do all kinds of work in the fields. The Egyptians didn’t show them any pity at all. They made them work very hard.
  • Joshua 9:23 - So now you are under a curse. You will always serve us. You will always cut wood and carry water for the house of my God.”
  • 1 Chronicles 19:2 - David thought, “I’m going to be kind to Hanun. His father Nahash was kind to me.” So David sent messengers to Hanun. He wanted them to tell Hanun how sad he was that Hanun’s father had died. David’s messengers went to the land of Ammon. They told Hanun how sad David was.
  • 1 Chronicles 19:3 - The Ammonite commanders spoke to Hanun. They said, “David has sent messengers to tell you he is sad. They say he wants to honor your father. But the real reason they’ve come is to look the land over. They want to destroy it.”
  • 1 Chronicles 19:4 - So Hanun grabbed David’s messengers. He shaved them. He cut off their clothes just below the waist and left them half naked. Then he sent them away.
  • 1 Chronicles 19:5 - Someone came and told David what had happened to his men. So David sent messengers to them because they were filled with shame. King David said to them, “Stay at Jericho until your beards grow out again. Then come back here.”
