  • James 2:21 - Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
  • James 2:22 - You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.
  • James 2:23 - And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.
  • James 2:24 - So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.
  • James 2:25 - Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.
  • Romans 2:25 - The Jewish ceremony of circumcision has value only if you obey God’s law. But if you don’t obey God’s law, you are no better off than an uncircumcised Gentile.
  • Galatians 2:16 - Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”
  • James 1:22 - But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
  • James 1:23 - For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.
  • James 1:24 - You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
  • James 1:25 - But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
