  • 1 Kings 21:27 - When Ahab heard what Elijah had said, he tore his clothes. He put on the rough clothing people wear when they’re sad. He went without eating. He even slept in his clothes. He went around looking sad.
  • Matthew 27:54 - The Roman commander and those guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened. They were terrified. They exclaimed, “He was surely the Son of God!”
  • Jonah 1:14 - Then they cried out to the Lord. They prayed, “Please, Lord, don’t let us die for taking this man’s life. After all, he might not be guilty of doing anything wrong. So don’t hold us responsible for killing him. Lord, you always do what you want to.”

  • Jeremiah 26:15 - But you can be sure of one thing. If you put me to death, you will be held responsible for spilling my blood. And I haven’t even done anything wrong.   • 1 Samuel 28:16 - Samuel said, “The Lord has left you. He has become your enemy. So why are you asking me what you should do?
  • 1 Samuel 28:17 - The Lord has spoken through me and has done what he said he would do. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands. He has given it to one of your neighbors. He has given it to David.
  • 1 Samuel 28:18 - You didn’t obey the Lord. You didn’t show his great anger against the Amalekites by destroying them. So he’s punishing you today.
  • 1 Samuel 28:19 - He will hand both Israel and you over to the Philistines. Tomorrow you and your sons will be down here with me. The Lord will also hand Israel’s army over to the Philistines.”
  • 1 Samuel 28:20 - Immediately Saul fell flat on the ground. What Samuel had said filled Saul with fear. His strength was gone. He hadn’t eaten anything all that day and all that night.
  • Luke 23:41 - We are being punished fairly. We are getting just what our actions call for. But this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”
  • Luke 23:47 - The Roman commander saw what had happened. He praised God and said, “Jesus was surely a man who did what was right.”
  • Matthew 27:19 - While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him a message. It said, “Don’t have anything to do with that man. He is not guilty. I have suffered a great deal in a dream today because of him.”
  • Acts 18:15 - But this is about your own law. It is a question of words and names. Settle the matter yourselves. I will not be a judge of such things.”
  • Acts 18:16 - So he made them leave.
  • Acts 18:17 - Then the crowd there turned against Sosthenes, the synagogue leader. They beat him up in front of the governor. But Gallio didn’t care at all.
  • 2 Kings 24:4 - Manasseh had spilled the blood of many people who weren’t guilty of doing anything wrong. In fact, he spilled so much of their blood that he filled Jerusalem with it. So the Lord refused to forgive him.
  • Luke 23:22 - Pilate spoke to them for the third time. “Why?” he asked. “What wrong has this man done? I have found no reason to have him put to death. So I will just have him whipped and let him go.”
  • Genesis 42:21 - They said to one another, “God is surely punishing us because of our brother. We saw how upset he was when he begged us to let him live. But we wouldn’t listen. That’s why all this trouble has come to us.”
  • Genesis 42:22 - Reuben replied, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we’re being paid back for killing him.”
  • Titus 1:16 - They claim to know God. But their actions show they don’t know him. They are hated by God. They refuse to obey him. They aren’t fit to do anything good.
  • 1 Timothy 4:2 - Teachings like those come from liars who pretend to be what they are not. Their sense of what is right and wrong has been destroyed. It’s as though it has been burned with a hot iron.
  • Matthew 27:23 - “Why? What wrong has he done?” asked Pilate. But they shouted even louder, “Crucify him!”
  • Matthew 27:24 - Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere. Instead, the crowd was starting to get angry. So he took water and washed his hands in front of them. “I am not guilty of this man’s death,” he said. “You are accountable for that!”
  • Matthew 27:25 - All the people answered, “Put the blame for his death on us and our children!”
  • 1 Peter 1:19 - Instead, you were bought with the priceless blood of Christ. He is a perfect lamb. He doesn’t have any flaws at all.
  • 1 John 3:12 - Don’t be like Cain. He belonged to the evil one. He murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because the things Cain had done were wrong. But the things his brother had done were right.
