  • Jeremiah 25:6 - Don’t follow other gods. Don’t serve them or worship them. Don’t make the Lord angry with the gods your own hands have made. Then he won’t harm you.’
  • Jeremiah 25:7 - “ ‘But you did not listen to me,’ announces the Lord. ‘You have made me very angry with the gods your hands have made. And you have brought harm on yourselves.’
  • Nehemiah 9:26 - “But they didn’t obey you. Instead, they turned against you. They turned their backs on your law. They killed your prophets. The prophets had warned them to return to you. But they did very evil things that dishonored you.
  • Matthew 5:12 - Be joyful and glad. Your reward in heaven is great. In the same way, people hurt the prophets who lived long ago.
  • Acts 7:52 - Was there ever a prophet your people didn’t try to hurt? They even killed those who told about the coming of the Blameless One. And now you have handed him over to his enemies. You have murdered him.
  • Hebrews 11:36 - Some were made fun of and even whipped. Some were held by chains. Some were put in prison.
  • Hebrews 11:37 - Some were killed with stones. Some were sawed in two. Some were killed by swords. They went around wearing the skins of sheep and goats. They were poor. They were attacked. They were treated badly.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:15 - The Lord, the God of Israel, sent word to his people through his messengers. He sent it to them again and again. He took pity on his people. He also took pity on the temple where he lived.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:16 - But God’s people made fun of his messengers. They hated his words. They laughed at his prophets. Finally the Lord’s great anger was stirred up against his people. Nothing could save them.
