Isaiah 37:17 - Listen, Lord. Hear us. Open your eyes, Lord. Look at the trouble we’re in. Listen to what Sennacherib is saying. You are the living God. And he dares to make fun of you!

Jeremiah 10:5 - The statues of their gods can’t speak. They are like scarecrows in a field of cucumbers. Their statues have to be carried around because they can’t walk. So do not be afraid of their gods. They can’t do you any harm. And they can’t do you any good either.”

2 Kings 19:17 - “Lord, it’s true that the kings of Assyria have completely destroyed many nations and their lands.
2 Kings 19:18 - They have thrown the statues of the gods of those nations into the fire. And they have destroyed them. That’s because they weren’t really gods at all. They were nothing but statues made out of wood and stone. They were made by human hands.
Psalm 135:15 - The statues of the nations’ gods are made out of silver and gold. They are made by human hands.
Psalm 135:16 - They have mouths but can’t speak. They have eyes but can’t see.
Psalm 135:17 - They have ears but can’t hear. They have mouths but can’t breathe.
Psalm 135:18 - Those who make statues of gods will be like them. So will all those who trust in them.
Daniel 3:15 - You will hear the horns, flutes, zithers, lyres, harps, pipes and other musical instruments. When you do, fall down and worship the statue I made. If you will, that’s very good. But if you won’t, you will be thrown at once into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to save you from my power?”
2 Kings 19:12 - The kings who ruled before me destroyed many nations. Did the gods of those nations save them? Did the gods of Gozan, Harran or Rezeph save them? What about the gods of the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?
2 Kings 19:13 - Where is the king of Hamath? Where is the king of Arpad? Where are the kings of Lair, Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah?’ ”
Habakkuk 2:19 - How terrible it will be for the Babylonians! They say to a wooden god, ‘Come to life!’ They say to a stone god, ‘Wake up!’ Can those gods give advice? They are covered with gold and silver. They can’t even breathe.”
Habakkuk 2:20 - The Lord is in his holy temple. Let the whole earth be silent in front of him.
2 Chronicles 32:13 - “ ‘Don’t you know what I and the kings who ruled before me have done? Don’t you know what we’ve done to all the peoples of the other lands? Were the gods of those nations ever able to save their lands from my power?
2 Chronicles 32:14 - The kings who ruled before me destroyed many nations. Which one of the gods of those nations has been able to save his people from me? So how can your god save you from my power?
2 Chronicles 32:15 - Don’t let Hezekiah trick you. He’s telling you lies. Don’t believe him. No god of any nation or kingdom has been able to save his people from my power. No god has been able to save his people from the power of the kings who ruled before me. So your god won’t save you from my power either!’ ”
2 Chronicles 32:16 - Sennacherib’s officers spoke even more things against the Lord God and his servant Hezekiah.
2 Chronicles 32:17 - The king also wrote letters against the Lord. His letters made fun of the God of Israel. They said, “The peoples of other lands have their gods. But those gods didn’t save their people from my power. So the god of Hezekiah won’t save his people from my power either.”
Isaiah 37:17 - Listen, Lord. Hear us. Open your eyes, Lord. Look at the trouble we’re in. Listen to what Sennacherib is saying. You are the living God. And he dares to make fun of you!

Jeremiah 10:10 - But you are the only true God. You are the only living God. You are the King who rules forever. When you are angry, the earth trembles with fear. The nations can’t stand up under your anger.
Jeremiah 10:11 - The Lord speaks to the Jews living in Babylon. He says, “Here is what you must tell the people of the nations. Tell them, ‘Your gods did not make the heavens and the earth. In fact, these gods will disappear from the earth. They will vanish from under the heavens.’ ”
Jeremiah 10:12 - But God used his power to make the earth. His wisdom set the world in place. His understanding spread out the heavens.
Psalm 135:5 - I know that the Lord is great. I know that our Lord is greater than all gods.
Psalm 135:6 - The Lord does anything he wants to do in the heavens and on the earth. He does it even in the deepest parts of the oceans.
Isaiah 36:10 - Besides, do you think I’ve come without being sent by the Lord? Have I come to attack and destroy this land without receiving a message from him? The Lord himself told me to march out against your country. He told me to destroy it.” ’ ”
Jeremiah 10:3 - The practices of these nations are worthless. People cut a tree out of the forest. A skilled worker shapes the wood with a sharp tool.
Jeremiah 10:4 - Others decorate it with silver and gold. They use a hammer to nail it to the floor. They want to keep it from falling down.
Jeremiah 10:5 - The statues of their gods can’t speak. They are like scarecrows in a field of cucumbers. Their statues have to be carried around because they can’t walk. So do not be afraid of their gods. They can’t do you any harm. And they can’t do you any good either.”
2 Kings 18:33 - Has the god of any nation ever saved his land from the power of the king of Assyria?
2 Kings 18:34 - Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Have they saved Samaria from my power?
2 Kings 18:35 - Which one of all the gods of those countries has been able to save his land from me? So how can the Lord save Jerusalem from my power?”
Psalm 92:5 - Lord, how great are the things you do! How wise your thoughts are!
Psalm 92:6 - Here is something that people without sense don’t know. Here is what foolish people don’t understand.
Psalm 92:7 - Those who are evil spring up like grass. Those who do wrong succeed. But they will be destroyed forever.
Isaiah 36:15 - Don’t let Hezekiah talk you into trusting in the Lord. Don’t believe him when he says, “You can be sure that the Lord will save us. This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.” ’
