  • Jeremiah 51:34 - “King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has eaten and crushed us and drained us of strength. He has swallowed us like a great monster and filled his belly with our riches. He has thrown us out of our own country.
  • Jeremiah 51:35 - Make Babylon suffer as she made us suffer,” say the people of Zion. “Make the people of Babylonia pay for spilling our blood,” says Jerusalem.
  • Jeremiah 51:36 - This is what the Lord says to Jerusalem: “I will be your lawyer to plead your case, and I will avenge you. I will dry up her river, as well as her springs,

  • Isaiah 14:1 - But the Lord will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as his special people once again. He will bring them back to settle once again in their own land. And people from many different nations will come and join them there and unite with the people of Israel.
  • Isaiah 14:2 - The nations of the world will help the people of Israel to return, and those who come to live in the Lord’s land will serve them. Those who captured Israel will themselves be captured, and Israel will rule over its enemies.
  • Isaiah 14:3 - In that wonderful day when the Lord gives his people rest from sorrow and fear, from slavery and chains,
  • Isaiah 14:4 - you will taunt the king of Babylon. You will say, “The mighty man has been destroyed. Yes, your insolence is ended.
  • Isaiah 14:5 - For the Lord has crushed your wicked power and broken your evil rule.
  • Isaiah 14:6 - You struck the people with endless blows of rage and held the nations in your angry grip with unrelenting tyranny.
  • Isaiah 14:7 - But finally the earth is at rest and quiet. Now it can sing again!
  • Isaiah 14:8 - Even the trees of the forest— the cypress trees and the cedars of Lebanon— sing out this joyous song: ‘Since you have been cut down, no one will come now to cut us down!’
  • Isaiah 14:9 - “In the place of the dead there is excitement over your arrival. The spirits of world leaders and mighty kings long dead stand up to see you.
  • Isaiah 14:10 - With one voice they all cry out, ‘Now you are as weak as we are!
  • Isaiah 14:11 - Your might and power were buried with you. The sound of the harp in your palace has ceased. Now maggots are your sheet, and worms your blanket.’
  • Isaiah 14:12 - “How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world.
  • Isaiah 14:13 - For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north.
  • Isaiah 14:14 - I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’
  • Isaiah 14:15 - Instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths.
  • Isaiah 14:16 - Everyone there will stare at you and ask, ‘Can this be the one who shook the earth and made the kingdoms of the world tremble?
  • Isaiah 14:17 - Is this the one who destroyed the world and made it into a wasteland? Is this the king who demolished the world’s greatest cities and had no mercy on his prisoners?’
  • Isaiah 14:18 - “The kings of the nations lie in stately glory, each in his own tomb,
  • Isaiah 14:19 - but you will be thrown out of your grave like a worthless branch. Like a corpse trampled underfoot, you will be dumped into a mass grave with those killed in battle. You will descend to the pit.
  • Isaiah 14:20 - You will not be given a proper burial, for you have destroyed your nation and slaughtered your people. The descendants of such an evil person will never again receive honor.
  • Isaiah 14:21 - Kill this man’s children! Let them die because of their father’s sins! They must not rise and conquer the earth, filling the world with their cities.”
  • Isaiah 14:22 - This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: “I, myself, have risen against Babylon! I will destroy its children and its children’s children,” says the Lord.
  • Isaiah 14:23 - “I will make Babylon a desolate place of owls, filled with swamps and marshes. I will sweep the land with the broom of destruction. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”
  • Isaiah 14:24 - The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sworn this oath: “It will all happen as I have planned. It will be as I have decided.
  • Isaiah 14:25 - I will break the Assyrians when they are in Israel; I will trample them on my mountains. My people will no longer be their slaves nor bow down under their heavy loads.
  • Isaiah 14:26 - I have a plan for the whole earth, a hand of judgment upon all the nations.
  • Isaiah 14:27 - The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken— who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”
  • Ezekiel 25:3 - Give the Ammonites this message from the Sovereign Lord: Hear the word of the Sovereign Lord! Because you cheered when my Temple was defiled, mocked Israel in her desolation, and laughed at Judah as she went away into exile,
  • Jeremiah 25:29 - I have begun to punish Jerusalem, the city that bears my name. Now should I let you go unpunished? No, you will not escape disaster. I will call for war against all the nations of the earth. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!’
  • Jeremiah 25:12 - “Then, after the seventy years of captivity are over, I will punish the king of Babylon and his people for their sins,” says the Lord. “I will make the country of the Babylonians a wasteland forever.
  • Jeremiah 25:13 - I will bring upon them all the terrors I have promised in this book—all the penalties announced by Jeremiah against the nations.
  • Jeremiah 25:14 - Many nations and great kings will enslave the Babylonians, just as they enslaved my people. I will punish them in proportion to the suffering they cause my people.”
  • Jeremiah 25:15 - This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me: “Take from my hand this cup filled to the brim with my anger, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink from it.
  • Jeremiah 25:16 - When they drink from it, they will stagger, crazed by the warfare I will send against them.”
  • Ezekiel 25:12 - “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The people of Edom have sinned greatly by avenging themselves against the people of Judah.
  • Amos 1:13 - This is what the Lord says: “The people of Ammon have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! When they attacked Gilead to extend their borders, they ripped open pregnant women with their swords.
  • Obadiah 1:10 - “Because of the violence you did to your close relatives in Israel, you will be filled with shame and destroyed forever.
  • Psalms 137:7 - O Lord, remember what the Edomites did on the day the armies of Babylon captured Jerusalem. “Destroy it!” they yelled. “Level it to the ground!”
  • Psalms 137:8 - O Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy is the one who pays you back for what you have done to us.
  • Psalms 137:9 - Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks!
  • Amos 1:11 - This is what the Lord says: “The people of Edom have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They chased down their relatives, the Israelites, with swords, showing them no mercy. In their rage, they slashed them continually and were unrelenting in their anger.
  • Lamentations 3:54 - The water rose over my head, and I cried out, “This is the end!”
  • Lamentations 3:55 - But I called on your name, Lord, from deep within the pit.

  • Lamentations 3:62 - My enemies whisper and mutter as they plot against me all day long.
  • Lamentations 3:63 - Look at them! Whether they sit or stand, I am the object of their mocking songs.
  • Lamentations 3:64 - Pay them back, Lord, for all the evil they have done.
  • Lamentations 3:65 - Give them hard and stubborn hearts, and then let your curse fall on them!
  • Lamentations 3:66 - Chase them down in your anger, destroying them beneath the Lord’s heavens.
  • Jeremiah 51:24 - “I will repay Babylon and the people of Babylonia for all the wrong they have done to my people in Jerusalem,” says the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 51:25 - “Look, O mighty mountain, destroyer of the earth! I am your enemy,” says the Lord. “I will raise my fist against you, to knock you down from the heights. When I am finished, you will be nothing but a heap of burnt rubble.
  • Jeremiah 51:26 - You will be desolate forever. Even your stones will never again be used for building. You will be completely wiped out,” says the Lord.
  • Ezekiel 25:15 - “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The people of Philistia have acted against Judah out of bitter revenge and long-standing contempt.
  • Numbers 24:14 - Now I am returning to my own people. But first let me tell you what the Israelites will do to your people in the future.”
  • Amos 1:6 - This is what the Lord says: “The people of Gaza have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They sent whole villages into exile, selling them as slaves to Edom.
  • Amos 1:3 - This is what the Lord says: “The people of Damascus have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They beat down my people in Gilead as grain is threshed with iron sledges.
  • Amos 1:9 - This is what the Lord says: “The people of Tyre have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They broke their treaty of brotherhood with Israel, selling whole villages as slaves to Edom.
  • Isaiah 10:12 - After the Lord has used the king of Assyria to accomplish his purposes on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he will turn against the king of Assyria and punish him—for he is proud and arrogant.
  • Lamentations 4:21 - Are you rejoicing in the land of Uz, O people of Edom? But you, too, must drink from the cup of the Lord’s anger. You, too, will be stripped naked in your drunkenness.
