  • Ezekiel 17:20 - I will spread out my net to catch him. He will be caught in my trap. I will bring him to Babylon. I will judge him there because he was not faithful to me.
  • Jeremiah 27:12 - I gave the same message to Zedekiah, the king of Judah. I said, “Put your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon. Obey him. Serve his people. Then you will live.
  • Jeremiah 27:13 - Why should you and your people die? Why should you die of war, hunger and plague? That’s what the Lord said would happen to any nation that won’t serve the king of Babylon.

  • Jeremiah 38:17 - So Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “The Lord God who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says, ‘Give yourself up to the officers of the king of Babylon. Then your life will be spared. And this city will not be burned down. You and your family will remain alive.
  • Jeremiah 38:18 - But what if you do not give yourself up to them? Then this city will be handed over to the Babylonians. They will burn it down. And you yourself will not escape from them.’ ”
  • Jeremiah 38:19 - King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “I’m afraid of some of the Jews. They are the ones who have gone over to the side of the Babylonians. The Babylonians might hand me over to them. And those Jews will treat me badly.”
  • Jeremiah 38:20 - “They won’t hand you over to them,” Jeremiah replied. “Obey the Lord. Do what I tell you to do. Then things will go well with you. Your life will be spared.
  • Jeremiah 38:21 - Don’t refuse to give yourself up. The Lord has shown me what will happen if you do.
  • Deuteronomy 2:30 - But Sihon, the king of Heshbon, refused to let us walk through. The Lord your God had made him stubborn in his heart and spirit. The Lord wanted to hand him over to you. And that’s exactly what he has done.

  • 1 Corinthians 1:20 - Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where are the great thinkers of our time? Hasn’t God made the wisdom of the world foolish?
  • Isaiah 19:11 - The officials of the city of Zoan are very foolish. Pharaoh’s wise men give advice that doesn’t make any sense. How can they dare to say to Pharaoh, “We’re among the wise men”? How can they say to him, “We’re like the advisers to the kings of long ago”?

  • Isaiah 19:14 - The Lord has given them a spirit that makes them feel dizzy. They make Egypt unsteady in everything it does. Egypt is like a person who drinks too much. He throws up and then walks around in the mess he’s made.
  • Exodus 9:14 - If you do not let them go, I will send the full force of my plagues against you this time. They will strike your officials and your people. Then you will know that there is no one like me in the whole earth.
  • Exodus 9:15 - By now I could have reached out my hand. I could have struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.
  • Exodus 9:16 - But I had a special reason for making you king. I decided to show you my power. I wanted my name to become known everywhere on earth.
  • Exodus 9:17 - But you are still against my people. You will not let them go.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:9 - The coming of the man of sin will fit how Satan works. The man of sin will show his power through all kinds of signs and wonders. These signs and wonders will lead people astray.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:10 - So people who are dying will be fooled by this evil. These people are dying because they refuse to love the truth. The truth would save them.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:11 - So God will fool them completely. Then they will believe the lie.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:13 - Zedekiah also refused to remain under the control of King Nebuchadnezzar. The king had forced Zedekiah to make a promise in God’s name. But Zedekiah’s heart became very stubborn. He wouldn’t turn to the Lord, the God of Israel.
