  • Deuteronomy 29:12 - All of you are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God. He is making the covenant with you today. He’s giving you his word.
  • Deuteronomy 29:13 - Today he wants to show you that you are his people and that he is your God. That’s what he promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
  • Deuteronomy 29:14 - I’m making this covenant and the promise that goes along with it. I’m making this covenant with you.
  • Deuteronomy 29:15 - You are standing here with us today in front of the Lord our God. And I’m also making this covenant with those who aren’t here today.
  • Nehemiah 10:28 - The rest of the people gathered together. They included the priests, the Levites and the men who guarded the gates. They included the musicians and temple servants. They also included all the people who separated themselves from the surrounding nations to obey the Law of God. All these men brought their wives with them. And they brought all their sons and daughters who were old enough to understand what was being agreed to.
  • Nehemiah 10:29 - All the men joined the nobles of their people. They made a firm agreement. They made a promise and said they would be cursed if they didn’t keep it. They promised to follow the Law of God. It had been given through Moses, the servant of God. They promised to obey carefully all the commands, rules and laws of the Lord our Lord.
  • Romans 13:1 - All of you must obey those who rule over you. There are no authorities except the ones God has chosen. Those who now rule have been chosen by God.
  • Romans 13:2 - So whoever opposes the authorities opposes leaders whom God has appointed. Those who do that will be judged.
  • Romans 13:3 - If you do what is right, you won’t need to be afraid of your rulers. But watch out if you do what is wrong! You don’t want to be afraid of those in authority, do you? Then do what is right, and you will be praised.
  • Romans 13:4 - The one in authority serves God for your good. But if you do wrong, watch out! Rulers don’t carry a sword for no reason at all. They serve God. And God is carrying out his anger through them. The ruler punishes anyone who does wrong.
  • Romans 13:5 - You must obey the authorities. Then you will not be punished. You must also obey them because you know it is right.
  • Romans 13:6 - That’s also why you pay taxes. The authorities serve God. Ruling takes up all their time.
  • Nehemiah 9:38 - “So we are making a firm agreement. We’re writing it down. Our leaders are putting their official marks on it. And so are our Levites and priests.”
  • 1 Chronicles 11:3 - All the elders of Israel came to see King David at Hebron. There he made a covenant with them in front of the Lord. They anointed David as king over Israel. It happened just as the Lord had promised through Samuel.
  • 2 Chronicles 29:10 - So I’m planning to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel. Then he’ll stop being angry with us.
  • 1 Samuel 10:25 - Samuel explained to the people the rights and duties of the king who ruled over them. He wrote them down in a book. He placed it in front of the Lord in the holy tent. Then he sent the people away. He sent each of them to their own homes.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:12 - They made a covenant to obey the Lord, the God of their people. They would obey him with all their heart and soul.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:13 - All those who wouldn’t obey the Lord, the God of Israel, would be killed. It wouldn’t matter how important they were. It wouldn’t matter whether they were men or women.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:14 - They made a promise to the Lord. They praised him out loud. They shouted. They blew trumpets and horns.
  • Ezra 10:3 - So let’s make a covenant in front of our God. Let’s promise to send away all these women and their children. That’s what you have advised us to do. Those who respect our God’s commands have given us the same advice. We want to do what the Law says.
  • Joshua 24:25 - On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people. There at Shechem he reminded them of its rules and laws.
  • 2 Chronicles 34:31 - The king stood next to his pillar. He agreed to the terms of the covenant in front of the Lord. The king promised to serve the Lord and obey his commands, directions and rules. He promised to obey them with all his heart and with all his soul. So the king promised to obey the terms of the covenant that were written in that book.
