A Vision of a Man with a Measuring Line
12:1 Ch 2:5 in Hebrew And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, 2:1 Ezek. 40:3; Rev. 11:1a man with a measuring line in his hand!
2Then I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, 2:2 [ch. 1:16]“To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”
3And behold, 2:3 ch. 1:9, 19the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him
4and said to him, “Run, say to that young man, 2:4 [ch. 12:6; 14:10, 11] ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited 2:4 See Esth. 9:19as villages without walls, because of 2:4 Isa. 49:19; Jer. 31:27the multitude of people and livestock in it.
6Up! Up! 2:6 Isa. 48:20Flee from the land of the north, declares the Lord. For I have 2:6 [ch. 7:14; Ezek. 5:10; 17:21]spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the Lord.
72:7 [Isa. 52:11]Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.
8For thus said the Lord of hosts, after his glory sent me2:8 Or he sent me after glory to the nations who plundered you, 2:8 Jer. 12:14for he who touches you touches 2:8 See Deut. 32:10the apple of his eye:
9“Behold, 2:9 Isa. 11:15; 19:16I will shake my hand over them, 2:9 Ezek. 39:10and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then 2:9 ch. 4:9; 6:15; Ezek. 33:33you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.
102:10 See Zeph. 3:14Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for 2:10 Ps. 40:7behold, I come 2:10 ch. 8:3; Isa. 12:6; Ezek. 37:27; Zeph. 3:15; 2 Cor. 6:16; See Lev. 26:12and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord.
112:11 ch. 8:22; See Isa. 2:2And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. 2:11 [See ver. 10above] And I will dwell in your midst, and 2:11 [See ver. 9above]you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.
122:12 See Deut. 32:9And the Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again 2:12 ch. 1:17; [Hab. 2:20]choose Jerusalem.”
13Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.
