Psalms41

O Lord, Be Gracious to Me
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

141:1 Prov. 14:21Blessed is the one who considers the poor!41:1 Or weak
41:1 Ps. 37:19In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;
2the Lord protects him and keeps him alive;
he is called blessed in the land;
you 41:2 Ps. 27:12do not give him up to the will of his enemies.
3The Lord sustains him on his sickbed;
in his illness you restore him to full health.41:3 Hebrew you turn all his bed

4As for me, I said, “O Lord, 41:4 Ps. 4:1be gracious to me;
41:4 Ps. 6:2; 147:3; 2 Chr. 30:20heal me,41:4 Hebrew my soul for I have sinned against you!”
5My enemies say of me in malice,
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
6And when one comes to see me, 41:6 Ps. 12:2; 144:8he utters empty words,
while his heart gathers iniquity;
when he goes out, he tells it abroad.
7All who hate me whisper together about me;
they imagine the worst for me.41:7 Or they devise evil against me

8They say, “A deadly thing is poured out41:8 Or has fastened on him;
he will not rise again from where he lies.”
9Even my 41:9 Ps. 55:12, 13, 20; Job 19:13, 14, 19; Jer. 9:4; 20:10; Mic. 7:5; [2 Sam. 15:12] close friend in whom I trusted,
who 41:9 Cited John 13:18ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.
10But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,
and raise me up, that I may repay them!

11By this I know that 41:11 [2 Sam. 15:25, 26]you delight in me:
my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.
12But 41:12 Ps. 63:8you have upheld me because of 41:12 Ps. 26:1my integrity,
and 41:12 Job 36:7set me in your presence 41:12 Ps. 23:6forever.

1341:13 Luke 1:68; [Ps. 72:18, 19; 89:52; 106:48; 150:6]Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
Amen and Amen.
