Bless the Lord, O My Soul

1103:1 ver. 22; Ps. 104:1Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within me,

bless his holy name!

2103:2 [See ver. 1above] Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and 103:2 Deut. 6:12; 8:11forget not all his benefits,

3who 103:3 Ex. 34:7; Isa. 33:24; Matt. 9:2; Mark 2:5; [Luke 7:47] forgives all your iniquity,

who 103:3 Ps. 107:20; 147:3; Ex. 15:26; [Matt. 8:17]heals all your diseases,

4who 103:4 See Ps. 56:13redeems your life from the pit,

who 103:4 [Ps. 5:12]crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

5who 103:5 Ps. 107:9satisfies you with good

so that your youth is renewed like 103:5 Isa. 40:31the eagle’s.

6The Lord works 103:6 Ps. 146:7righteousness

and justice for all who are oppressed.

7He made known his 103:7 Ex. 33:13; [Ps. 25:4] ways to Moses,

his 103:7 [Ps. 78:11; Ex. 34:10]acts to the people of Israel.

8The Lord is 103:8 See Ps. 86:15merciful and gracious,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

9103:9 Isa. 57:16He will not always chide,

nor will he 103:9 Ps. 30:5; Jer. 3:5, 12; Mic. 7:18keep his anger forever.

10He does not deal with us 103:10 Ezra 9:13according to our sins,

nor repay us according to our iniquities.

11For 103:11 See Ps. 36:5as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is his 103:11 Ps. 117:2steadfast love toward 103:11 ver. 13, 17; Luke 1:50those who fear him;

12as far as the east is from the west,

so far does he 103:12 [Isa. 38:17; 43:25; Mic. 7:19]remove our transgressions from us.

13As 103:13 Mal. 3:17a father shows compassion to his children,

so the Lord shows compassion 103:13 [See ver. 11above]to those who fear him.

14For he knows our frame;103:14 Or knows how we are formed

he 103:14 Ps. 78:39remembers that we are dust.

15As for man, his days are like 103:15 Ps. 90:5grass;

he flourishes like 103:15 See Job 14:2a flower of the field;

16for 103:16 Isa. 40:7the wind passes over it, and 103:16 Ps. 37:36it is gone,

and 103:16 See Job 7:10its place knows it no more.

17But 103:17 Ps. 25:6the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on 103:17 [See ver. 11above] those who fear him,

and his righteousness to 103:17 Ex. 20:5, 6children’s children,

18to those who 103:18 Deut. 7:9keep his covenant

and 103:18 Ps. 19:8remember to do his commandments.

19The Lord has 103:19 Ps. 11:4; 93:2established his throne in the heavens,

and his 103:19 Ps. 47:2; Dan. 4:17kingdom rules over all.

20Bless the Lord, O you 103:20 Ps. 148:2; [Luke 2:13] his angels,

you 103:20 Ps. 78:25mighty ones who 103:20 Matt. 6:10do his word,

obeying the voice of his word!

21Bless the Lord, all his 103:21 Gen. 32:2; Josh. 5:14; 1 Kgs. 22:19hosts,

his 103:21 Ps. 104:4; Dan. 7:10; Heb. 1:14ministers, who do his will!

22103:22 Ps. 145:10Bless the Lord, all his works,

in all places of his dominion.
