Psalms10

Why Do You Hide Yourself?
1Why, O Lord, do you stand 10:1 Ps. 22:1, 11, 19; 35:22; 38:21far away?
Why 10:1 Ps. 13:1do you hide yourself in 10:1 Ps. 9:9times of trouble?

2In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor;
let them 10:2 [Ps. 7:15, 16]be caught in the schemes that they have devised.
3For the wicked 10:3 Ps. 94:4; [Isa. 3:9] boasts of the desires of his soul,
and the one greedy for gain 10:3 ver. 13curses10:3 Or and he blesses the one greedy for gain and 10:3 Job 1:5, 11renounces the Lord.
4In the pride of his face10:4 Or of his anger the wicked does not 10:4 [See ver. 3above] seek him;10:4 Or the wicked says, “He will not call to account”
all his thoughts are, 10:4 Ps. 14:1; 53:1“There is no God.”
5His ways prosper at all times;
your judgments are on high, 10:5 [Isa. 26:11] out of his sight;
as for all his foes, he 10:5 Ps. 12:5puffs at them.
6He 10:6 ver. 11, 13says in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
throughout all generations I 10:6 [Rev. 18:7]shall not meet adversity.”
710:7 Cited Rom. 3:14His mouth is filled with cursing and 10:7 Ps. 36:3deceit and 10:7 Ps. 55:11; 72:14oppression;
10:7 Job 20:12; [Ps. 140:3; Song 4:11] under his tongue are 10:7 Ps. 7:14mischief and 10:7 Ps. 5:5; 6:8iniquity.
8He sits in ambush in the villages;
in 10:8 Ps. 17:12; 64:4; [Hab. 3:14]hiding places he murders the innocent.
His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9he lurks in ambush like 10:9 Ps. 17:12a lion in his 10:9 Job 38:40thicket;
he 10:9 Ps. 59:3; Mic. 7:2lurks that he may seize the poor;
he seizes the poor when he draws him into his 10:9 Ps. 9:15net.
10The helpless are crushed, sink down,
and fall by his might.
11He says in his heart, “God has forgotten,
he has 10:11 [Ps. 73:11]; Job 22:13hidden his face, he 10:11 Ps. 94:7; Ezek. 8:12; 9:9; [Zeph. 1:12]will never see it.”

1210:12 See Ps. 3:7Arise, O Lord; O God, 10:12 Mic. 5:9lift up your hand;
10:12 Ps. 9:12, 18forget not the afflicted.
13Why does the wicked 10:13 ver. 3renounce God
and say in his heart, “You will not 10:13 Ps. 9:12call to account”?
14But you do see, for you 10:14 Ps. 33:13note mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;
to you the helpless 10:14 2 Tim. 1:12; 1 Pet. 4:19commits himself;
you have been 10:14 Ps. 68:5; 146:9; Hos. 14:3the helper of the fatherless.
1510:15 See Ps. 37:17Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
10:15 [Ps. 37:36; Isa. 41:12]call his wickedness to account till you find none.

1610:16 Ps. 29:10; Ex. 15:18; Jer. 10:10; Lam. 5:19; Dan. 4:34; 6:26; 1 Tim. 1:17; Rev. 11:15The Lord is king forever and ever;
the 10:16 Deut. 8:20nations perish from his land.
17O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will 10:17 1 Chr. 29:18strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
18to 10:18 Ps. 82:3; [Isa. 1:17; 11:4] do justice to the fatherless and 10:18 Ps. 9:9; 74:21the oppressed,
so that 10:18 Ps. 9:19, 20; 17:14man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.
