God Will Swallow Up Death Forever

1O Lord, 25:1 Ex. 15:2you are my God;

25:1 [Ps. 107:32] I will exalt you; I will praise your name,

for you have done wonderful things,

25:1 [2 Kgs. 19:25]plans formed of old, faithful and sure.

2For you have made the city 25:2 [ch. 17:1; Jer. 51:37]a heap,

the fortified city a ruin;

the foreigners’ palace is a city no more;

it will never be rebuilt.

325:3 [ch. 18:7]Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;

cities of ruthless nations will fear you.

425:4 Nah. 1:7For you have been a stronghold to the poor,

a stronghold to the needy in his distress,

25:4 ch. 4:6a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;

25:4 [2 Chr. 32:18]for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,

525:5 [ch. 32:2]like heat in a dry place.

You subdue the noise of the foreigners;

as heat by the shade of a cloud,

so the song of the ruthless is put down.

a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,

25:6 [Ps. 63:5]of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.

7And he will swallow up 25:7 [See ver. 6above] on this mountain

the covering that is cast over all peoples,

25:7 [2 Cor. 3:15]the veil that is spread over all nations.

and 25:8 Rev. 7:17; [ch. 30:19] the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,

and 25:8 [ch. 37:4] the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,

9It will be said on that day,

“Behold, this is our God; 25:9 ch. 26:8; [Gen. 49:18; Ps. 27:14] we have waited for him, that he might save us.

This is the Lord; we have waited for him;

25:9 Ps. 9:14let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

10For the hand of the Lord will rest 25:10 [See ver. 6above] on this mountain,

and 25:10 See ch. 15:1Moab shall be trampled down in his place,

as straw is trampled down in a dunghill.25:10 The Hebrew words for dunghill and for the Moabite town Madmen (Jeremiah 48:2) sound alike

1125:11 [ch. 16:12] And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it

as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim,

but the Lord25:11 [ch. 16:14]will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill25:11 Or in spite of the skill of his hands.

12And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down,

lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.
