Guard the Deposit Entrusted to You
31:3 See Rom. 1:8I thank God 1:3 See Acts 22:3; 24:14whom I serve, as did my ancestors, 1:3 1 Tim. 3:9; See Acts 23:1with a clear conscience, as I remember you 1:3 Rom. 1:9constantly in my prayers night and day.
41:4 [Acts 20:37] As I remember your tears, 1:4 Phil. 1:8; [ch. 4:9, 21]I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy.
5I am reminded of 1:5 Rom. 12:9; 1 Tim. 1:5your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and 1:5 Acts 16:1; [ch. 3:15; Ps. 86:16; 116:16]your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.
6For this reason I remind you 1:6 1 Tim. 4:14; [1 Thess. 5:19]to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,
7for God gave us 1:7 Rom. 8:15; [John 14:27; Rev. 21:8] a spirit not of fear but 1:7 Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8of power and love and self-control.
8Therefore 1:8 See Mark 8:38do not be ashamed of 1:8 See 1 Cor. 1:6the testimony about our Lord, nor of 1:8 [ver. 16]; See Eph. 3:1me his prisoner, but 1:8 ch. 2:3, 9; 4:5share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,

10and which now has 1:10 See Rom. 16:26been manifested through 1:10 See 2 Thess. 2:8the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, 1:10 1 Cor. 15:26; [1 Cor. 15:54, 55; Heb. 2:14, 15] who abolished death and 1:10 [Job 33:30] brought life and 1:10 Rom. 2:7immortality to light through the gospel,
111:11 See 1 Tim. 2:7for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher,
121:12 ch. 2:9which is why I suffer as I do. But 1:12 ver. 8I am not ashamed, for 1:12 [Ps. 10:14; 1 Pet. 4:19] I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until 1:12 ver. 18; ch. 4:8; See 1 Cor. 3:13that day 1:12 1 Tim. 6:20what has been entrusted to me.1:12 Or what I have entrusted to him; Greek my deposit
131:13 [ch. 3:14; Titus 1:9; Rev. 3:3] Follow 1:13 [Rom. 2:20; 6:17] the pattern of 1:13 See 1 Tim. 1:10the sound1:13 Or healthy words 1:13 ch. 2:2that you have heard from me, in 1:13 1 Tim. 1:14the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
15You are aware that 1:15 Acts 19:10; [ch. 4:10, 11, 16]all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16May the Lord grant mercy to 1:16 ch. 4:19the household of Onesiphorus, for he often 1:16 Philem. 7, 20refreshed me and was not ashamed of 1:16 [ver. 8]; See Acts 28:20my chains,
17but when he arrived in Rome 1:17 Matt. 25:36-40he searched for me earnestly and found me—
