God Our Refuge
For the choir director. A song of the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. This may refer to a high pitch, perhaps a tune sung by soprano voices; the Hb word means “young women.” 1Ch 15:20
1God is our refuge and strength,
a helper who is always found
in times of trouble. Ps 9:9; 62:7-8
2Therefore we will not be afraid,
though the earth trembles
and the mountains topple
into the depths of the seas, Ps 18:7; 82:5
3though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with its turmoil. Ps 93:3-4; Jr 5:22Selah
4There is a river —
its streams delight the city of God,
the holy dwelling place of the Most High. Ps 43:3; Rv 22:1-2
5God is within her; she will not be toppled.
God will help her when the morning dawns. Is 12:6; Zch 2:10-11
6Nations rage, kingdoms topple;
the earth melts when He lifts His voice. Ps 2:1; Jr 25:30
7The Lord of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Ps 9:9; Jl 3:16Selah
8Come, see the works of the Lord,
who brings devastation on the earth. Ps 66:5
9He makes wars cease throughout the earth.
He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;
He burns up the chariots. Lit chariots with fire Ps 76:3; Is 2:4; Mc 4:3
10“Stop your fighting — and know that I am God,
exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.” Ps 100:3; Is 2:11,17
