1I rejoiced with those who said to me,

2Our feet are standing

within your gates, Jerusalem Ps 9:14; Jr 7:2 —

3Jerusalem, built as a city should be,

solidly joined together, Neh 4:6; Ps 147:2

4where the tribes, Yahweh’s tribes, go up

to give thanks to the name of Yahweh. Is 2:3; Mc 4:2

(This is an ordinance for Israel. 1Ch 22:13)

5There, thrones for judgment are placed,

thrones of the house of David. Dt 17:8; 2Ch 19:8

6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

“May those who love you prosper; Ps 51:18; Jr 29:7

7may there be peace within your walls,

prosperity within your fortresses.” Ps 48:3

8Because of my brothers and friends,

I will say, “Peace be with you.” 1Sm 25:6; Ps 85:8

9Because of the house of the Lord our God,

I will seek your good. Neh 2:10; Est 10:3
