Psalm 137:7 - Lord, remember what the people of Edom did on the day Jerusalem fell. “Tear it down!” they cried. “Tear it down to the ground!”
Ezekiel 29:6 - Then everyone who lives in Egypt will know that I am the Lord. “ ‘ “You have been like a walking stick made out of a papyrus stem. The people of Israel tried to lean on you.
Ezekiel 29:7 - They took hold of you. But you broke under their weight. You tore open their shoulders. The people of Israel leaned on you. But you snapped in two. And their backs were broken.” ’ ”
Psalm 83:2 - See how your enemies are growling like dogs. See how they are rising up against you.
Psalm 83:3 - They make clever plans against your people. They make evil plans against those you love.
Psalm 83:4 - “Come,” they say. “Let’s destroy that whole nation. Then the name of Israel won’t be remembered anymore.”
Psalm 83:5 - All of them agree on the evil plans they have made. They join forces against you.
Jeremiah 51:34 - The people of Jerusalem say, “Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has destroyed us. He has thrown us into a panic. He has emptied us out like a jar. Like a snake he has swallowed us up. He has filled his stomach with our rich food. Then he has spit us out of his mouth.”
Jeremiah 51:35 - The people continue, “May the people of Babylon pay for the harmful things they have done to us. May those who live in Babylon pay for spilling the blood of our people.” That’s what the people who live in Zion say.
Obadiah 1:10 - You did harmful things to the people of Jacob. They are your relatives. So you will be covered with shame. You will be destroyed forever.
Obadiah 1:11 - Outsiders entered the gates of Jerusalem. They cast lots to see what each one would get. Strangers carried off its wealth. When that happened, you just stood there and did nothing. You were like one of them.
Obadiah 1:12 - That was a time of trouble for your relatives. So you shouldn’t have been happy about what happened to them. The people of Judah were destroyed. So you should not have been happy about it. You should not have laughed at them so much when they were in trouble.
Obadiah 1:13 - You should not have marched through the gates of my people’s city when they were in trouble. You shouldn’t have been happy about what happened to them. You should not have stolen their wealth when they were in trouble.
Obadiah 1:14 - You waited where the roads cross. You wanted to cut down those who were running away. You should not have done that. You handed over to their enemies those who were still left alive. You should not have done that. They were in trouble.
Obadiah 1:15 - “The day of the Lord is near for all the nations. Others will do to you what you have done to them. You will be paid back for what you have done.
Obadiah 1:16 - You Edomites made my holy mountain of Zion impure by drinking and celebrating there. So all the nations will drink from the cup of my anger. And they will keep on drinking from it. They will vanish. It will be as if they had never existed.
Psalm 123:4 - We have had to put up with a lot from those who are proud. They were always laughing at us.
Ezekiel 25:3 - Tell them, ‘Listen to the message of the Lord and King. He says, “You laughed when my temple was made ‘unclean.’ You also laughed when the land of Israel was completely destroyed. You mocked the people of Judah when they were taken away as prisoners.
Ezekiel 25:4 - So I am going to hand you over to the people of the east. They will set up their tents in your land. They will camp among you. They will eat your fruit. They will drink your milk.
Ezekiel 25:5 - I will turn the city of Rabbah into grasslands for camels. Ammon will become a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”
Ezekiel 25:6 - The Lord and King says, “You clapped your hands. You stamped your feet. Deep down inside, you hated the land of Israel. You were glad because of what happened to it.
Ezekiel 25:7 - So I will reach out my powerful hand against you. I will give you and everything you have to the nations. I will bring you to an end among the nations. I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
Ezekiel 25:8 - The Lord and King says, “Moab and Edom said, ‘Look! Judah has become like all the other nations.’
Ezekiel 25:9 - So I will let Moab’s enemies attack its lower hills. They will begin at the border towns. Those towns include Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon and Kiriathaim. They are the glory of that land.
Ezekiel 36:4 - Mountains of Israel, listen to the message of the Lord and King. He speaks to you mountains, hills, canyons and valleys. He speaks to you destroyed cities and deserted towns. The rest of the nations around you took away from you everything of value. They made fun of you.
Ezekiel 36:5 - So the Lord and King says, “I am very angry with those nations. I have spoken against them and the whole land of Edom. They were very happy when they took over my land. Deep down inside them, they hated Israel. They wanted to take its grasslands.
Ezekiel 26:2 - “Son of man, Tyre laughed because of what happened to Jerusalem. The people of Tyre said, ‘Jerusalem is the gateway to the nations. But the gate is broken. Its doors have swung open to us. Jerusalem has been destroyed. So now we will succeed.’ ”
Hebrews 12:6 - The Lord trains the one he loves. He corrects everyone he accepts as his son.” ( Proverbs 3:11 , 12 )
Hebrews 12:7 - Put up with hard times. God uses them to train you. He is treating you as his children. What children are not trained by their parents?
Revelation 18:7 - Give her as much pain and suffering as the glory and wealth she gave herself. She brags to herself, ‘I rule on a throne like a queen. I am not a widow. I will never mourn.’ ( Isaiah 47:7 , 8 )
Revelation 18:8 - But she will be plagued by death, sadness and hunger. In a single day she will suffer all these plagues. She will be burned up by fire. That’s because the Lord God who judges her is mighty.
Amos 1:3 - The Lord says, “The people of Damascus have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They used threshing sleds with iron teeth to crush Gilead’s people.
Amos 1:4 - So I will send fire to destroy the palace of King Hazael. It will burn up the forts of his son Ben-Hadad.
Amos 1:5 - I will break down the city gate of Damascus. I will kill the king who lives in the Valley of Aven, that evil place. He holds the ruler’s scepter in Beth Eden. The people of Aram will be taken away to Kir as prisoners,” says the Lord.
Amos 1:6 - The Lord says, “The people of Gaza have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They captured whole communities. They sold them to Edom.
Amos 1:7 - So I will send fire to destroy the walls of Gaza. It will burn up its forts.
Amos 1:8 - I will kill the king of Ashdod. He holds the ruler’s scepter in Ashkelon. I will use my power against Ekron. Every single Philistine will die,” says the Lord and King.
Amos 1:9 - The Lord says, “The people of Tyre have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They captured whole communities. They sold them to Edom. They did not honor the treaty of friendship they had made.
Amos 1:10 - So I will send fire to destroy the walls of Tyre. It will burn up its forts.”
Amos 1:11 - The Lord says, “The people of Edom have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They chased Israel with swords that were ready to strike them down. They killed the women of the land. They were angry all the time. Their anger was like a fire that blazed out. It could not be stopped.
Amos 1:12 - So I will send fire to destroy the city of Teman. It will burn up Bozrah’s forts.”
Amos 1:13 - The Lord says, “The people of Ammon have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They ripped open the pregnant women in Gilead. They wanted to add land to their territory.
Zechariah 1:2 - The Lord who rules over all was very angry with your people of long ago.
Psalm 69:26 - They attack those you have wounded. They talk about the pain of those you have hurt.
Zechariah 1:11 - They brought a report to the angel of the Lord. He was standing among the myrtle trees. They said to him, “We have gone all through the earth. We’ve found the whole world enjoying peace and rest.”
Jeremiah 48:11 - “Moab has been at peace and rest from its earliest days. It is like wine that has not been shaken up. It has not been poured from one jar to another. Moab’s people have not been taken away from their land. They are like wine that tastes as it always did. Its smell has not changed at all.
Jeremiah 48:12 - But other days are coming,” announces the Lord. “At that time I will send people who pour wine from pitchers. They will pour Moab out like wine. They will empty its pitchers. They will smash its jars.
Jeremiah 48:13 - Then Moab’s people will be ashamed of their god named Chemosh. They will be ashamed just as the people of Israel were when they trusted in their false god at Bethel.
Isaiah 10:5 - The Lord says, “How terrible it will be for the people of Assyria! They are the war club that carries out my anger.
Isaiah 10:6 - I will send them against the ungodly nation of Judah. I will order them to fight against my own people. My people make me angry. I will order Assyria to take their goods and carry them away. I will order Assyria to walk on my people as if they were walking on mud.
Isaiah 10:7 - But that is not what the king of Assyria plans. It is not what he has in mind. His purpose is to destroy many nations. His purpose is to put an end to them.
Isaiah 47:6 - I was angry with my people. I treated them as if they did not belong to me. I handed them over to you. And you did not show them any pity. You even placed heavy loads on their old people.
Isaiah 47:7 - You said, ‘I am queen forever!’ But you did not think about what you were doing. You did not consider how things might turn out.
Isaiah 47:8 - “So listen, you who love pleasure. You think you are safe and secure. You say to yourself, ‘I am like a god. No one is greater than I am. I’ll never be a widow. And my children will never be taken away from me.’
Isaiah 47:9 - But both of these things will happen to you in a moment. They will take place on a single day. You will lose your children. And you will become a widow. That is what will happen to you. All your evil magic and powerful spells will not save you.
Isaiah 54:8 - For a moment I turned my face away from you. I was very angry with you. But I will show you my loving concern. My faithful love will continue forever,” says the Lord. He is the one who set you free.
Jeremiah 51:24 - “Judah, I will pay Babylon back. You will see it with your own eyes. I will pay back all those who live in Babylon. I will pay them back for all the wrong things they have done in Zion,” announces the Lord.
Ezekiel 25:12 - The Lord and King says, “Edom got even with Judah. That made Edom very guilty.”
Ezekiel 25:13 - The Lord continues, “I will reach out my hand against Edom. I will kill its people and their animals. I will completely destroy it. They will be killed by swords from Teman all the way to Dedan.
Ezekiel 25:14 - I will use my people Israel to pay Edom back. They will punish Edom because my anger against it is great. They will know how I pay back my enemies,” announces the Lord and King.
Ezekiel 25:15 - The Lord and King says, “Deep down inside them, the Philistines hated Judah. So the Philistines tried to get even with them. They had been Judah’s enemies for many years. So they tried to destroy them.”
Ezekiel 25:16 - The Lord continues, “I am about to reach out my hand against the Philistines. I will wipe out the Kerethites. I will destroy those who remain along the coast.
Ezekiel 25:17 - You can be sure that I will pay them back. I will punish them because my anger against them is great. When I pay them back, they will know that I am the Lord.”
