The Message - If you sin without knowing what you’re doing, God takes that into account. But if you sin knowing full well what you’re doing, that’s a different story entirely. Romans 8:3 - The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
Deuteronomy 27:26 - ‘Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’ And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
Ezekiel 16:49 - Sodom’s sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door.
Ezekiel 16:50 - She was proud and committed detestable sins, so I wiped her out, as you have seen.
Romans 7:7 - Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”
Romans 7:8 - But sin used this command to arouse all kinds of covetous desires within me! If there were no law, sin would not have that power.
Romans 7:9 - At one time I lived without understanding the law. But when I learned the command not to covet, for instance, the power of sin came to life,
Romans 7:10 - and I died. So I discovered that the law’s commands, which were supposed to bring life, brought spiritual death instead.
Romans 7:11 - Sin took advantage of those commands and deceived me; it used the commands to kill me.
Romans 1:32 - They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
Luke 10:12 - I assure you, even wicked Sodom will be better off than such a town on judgment day.
Luke 10:13 - “What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse.
Luke 10:14 - Yes, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.
Luke 10:15 - And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. ”
Romans 2:14 - Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it.
Romans 2:15 - They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.
Romans 2:16 - And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life.
Matthew 11:22 - I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.
Romans 1:18 - But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
Romans 1:19 - They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.
Romans 1:20 - For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Romans 1:21 - Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
Matthew 11:24 - I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you.”
Luke 12:47 - “And a servant who knows what the master wants, but isn’t prepared and doesn’t carry out those instructions, will be severely punished.
Luke 12:48 - But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
2 Corinthians 3:7 - The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away.
2 Corinthians 3:8 - Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life?
2 Corinthians 3:9 - If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God!
Revelation 20:12 - I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.
Revelation 20:13 - The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
Revelation 20:14 - Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.
Revelation 20:15 - And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Galatians 2:16 - Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”
Galatians 2:17 - But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not!
Galatians 2:18 - Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down.
Galatians 2:19 - For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God.
1 Corinthians 9:21 - When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ.
Galatians 3:10 - But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”
