  • Psalm 32:3 - When I kept silent about my sin, my body became weak because I groaned all day long.
  • Psalm 32:4 - Day and night you punished me. I became weaker and weaker as I do in the heat of summer.
  • Psalm 32:5 - Then I admitted my sin to you. I didn’t cover up the wrong I had done. I said, “I will admit my lawless acts to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
  • Psalm 32:6 - Let everyone who is faithful pray to you while they can still look to you. When troubles come like a flood, they certainly won’t reach those who are faithful.
  • Psalm 32:7 - You are my hiding place. You will keep me safe from trouble. You will surround me with songs sung by those who praise you because you save your people.
  • Psalm 69:29 - I’m in pain. I’m in deep trouble. God, save me and keep me safe.
  • Psalm 69:30 - I will praise God’s name by singing to him. I will bring him glory by giving him thanks.
  • Ezekiel 7:16 - All those who escape and are left alive will run to the mountains. They will sound like doves of the valley when they cry over their sins.

  • Ezekiel 9:4 - The Lord said to him, “Go all through Jerusalem. Look for those who are sad and sorry about all the things being done there. I hate those things. Put a mark on the foreheads of those people.”
  • Psalm 40:1 - I was patient while I waited for the Lord. He turned to me and heard my cry for help.
  • Psalm 40:2 - I was sliding down into the pit of death, and he pulled me out. He brought me up out of the mud and dirt. He set my feet on a rock. He gave me a firm place to stand on.
  • Psalm 40:3 - He gave me a new song to sing. It is a hymn of praise to our God. Many people will see and have respect for the Lord. They will put their trust in him.
  • Psalm 30:7 - Lord, when you gave me your help, you made Mount Zion stand firm. But when you took away your help, I was terrified.
  • Psalm 30:8 - Lord, I called out to you. I cried to you for mercy.
  • Psalm 30:9 - I said, “What good will come if I become silent in death? What good will come if I go down into the grave? Can the dust of my dead body praise you? Can it tell how faithful you are?
  • Psalm 30:10 - Lord, hear me. Have mercy on me. Lord, help me.”
  • Psalm 30:11 - You turned my loud crying into dancing. You removed my clothes of sadness and dressed me with joy.
  • Isaiah 30:19 - People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you won’t weep anymore. When you cry out to the Lord for help, he will have mercy on you. As soon as he hears you, he’ll answer you.
  • Isaiah 25:8 - He will swallow up death forever. The Lord and King will wipe away the tears from everyone’s face. He will remove the shame of his people from the whole earth. The Lord has spoken.

  • Revelation 7:14 - I answered, “Sir, you know.” He said, “They are the ones who have come out of the time of terrible suffering. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
  • Revelation 7:15 - So “they are in front of the throne of God. They serve him day and night in his temple. The one who sits on the throne will be with them to keep them safe.
  • Revelation 7:16 - ‘Never again will they be hungry. Never again will they be thirsty. The sun will not beat down on them.’ ( Isaiah 49:10 ) The heat of the desert will not harm them.
  • Revelation 7:17 - The Lamb, who is at the center of the area around the throne, will be their shepherd. ‘He will lead them to springs of living water.’ ( Isaiah 49:10 ) ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ ” ( Isaiah 25:8 )
  • James 1:12 - Blessed is the person who keeps on going when times are hard. After they have come through hard times, this person will receive a crown. The crown is life itself. The Lord has promised it to those who love him.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:4 - He comforts us in all our troubles. Now we can comfort others when they are in trouble. We ourselves receive comfort from God.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:5 - We share very much in the sufferings of Christ. So we also share very much in his comfort.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:6 - If we are having trouble, it is so that you will be comforted and renewed. If we are comforted, it is so that you will be comforted. Then you will be able to put up with the same suffering we have gone through.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:7 - Our hope for you remains firm. We know that you suffer just as we do. In the same way, God comforts you just as he comforts us.
  • Psalm 126:5 - Those who cry as they plant their crops will sing with joy when they gather them in.
  • Psalm 126:6 - Those who go out weeping as they carry seeds to plant will come back singing with joy. They will bring the new crop back with them.
  • Isaiah 51:11 - Those the Lord has saved will return to their land. They will sing as they enter the city of Zion. Joy that lasts forever will be like beautiful crowns on their heads. They will be filled with gladness and joy. Sorrow and sighing will be gone.
  • Isaiah 51:12 - The Lord says to his people, “I comfort you because of who I am. Why are you afraid of mere human beings? They are like grass that dries up.
  • Luke 6:21 - Blessed are you who are hungry now. You will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are sad now. You will laugh.
  • Isaiah 57:18 - I have seen what they have done. But I will heal them. I will guide them. I will give those who mourn in Israel the comfort they had before.
  • John 16:20 - What I’m about to tell you is true. You will weep and mourn while the world is full of joy. You will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.
  • John 16:21 - A woman giving birth to a baby has pain. That’s because her time to give birth has come. But when her baby is born, she forgets the pain. She forgets because she is so happy that a baby has been born into the world.
  • John 16:22 - That’s the way it is with you. Now it’s your time to be sad. But I will see you again. Then you will be full of joy. And no one will take away your joy.
  • Isaiah 61:2 - He has sent me to announce the year when he will set his people free. He wants me to announce the day when he will pay his enemies back. Our God has sent me to comfort all those who are sad.
  • Isaiah 61:3 - He wants me to help those in Zion who are filled with sorrow. I will put beautiful crowns on their heads in place of ashes. I will anoint them with olive oil to give them joy instead of sorrow. I will give them a spirit of praise in place of a spirit of sadness. They will be like oak trees that are strong and straight. The Lord himself will plant them in the land. That will show how glorious he is.
  • 2 Corinthians 7:9 - Now I am happy. I’m not happy because you were made sad. I’m happy because your sadness led you to turn away from your sins. You became sad just as God wanted you to. So you were not hurt in any way by us.
  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 - Godly sadness causes us to turn away from our sins and be saved. And we are certainly not sorry about that! But worldly sadness brings death.
  • Revelation 21:4 - ‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death.’ ( Isaiah 25:8 ) And there will be no more sadness. There will be no more crying or pain. Things are no longer the way they used to be.”
