Romans 4:12 - And he became the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith our father Abraham had while he was still uncircumcised.
Romans 4:13 - For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
Romans 4:14 - If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise nullified,
Romans 4:15 - because the law produces wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.
Romans 4:16 - This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, to guarantee it to all the descendants — not only to the one who is of the law but also to the one who is of Abraham’s faith. He is the father of us all.
Romans 4:17 - As it is written: I have made you the father of many nations — in the presence of the God in whom he believed, the one who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist.
Galatians 4:22 - For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and the other by a free woman.
Galatians 4:23 - But the one by the slave was born as a result of the flesh, while the one by the free woman was born through promise.
Galatians 4:24 - These things are being taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai and bears children into slavery — this is Hagar.
Galatians 4:25 - Now Hagar represents Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
Galatians 4:26 - But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.
Galatians 4:27 - For it is written, Rejoice, childless woman, unable to give birth. Burst into song and shout, you who are not in labor, for the children of the desolate woman will be many, more numerous than those of the woman who has a husband.
Galatians 4:28 - Now you too, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.
Galatians 4:29 - But just as then the child born as a result of the flesh persecuted the one born as a result of the Spirit, so also now.
Galatians 4:30 - But what does the Scripture say? “Drive out the slave and her son, for the son of the slave will never be a coheir with the son of the free woman.”
Galatians 4:31 - Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of a slave but of the free woman.

Romans 4:1 - What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

Romans 9:7 - Neither is it the case that all of Abraham’s children are his descendants. On the contrary, your offspring will be traced through Isaac.
Romans 9:8 - That is, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but the children of the promise are considered to be the offspring.
Luke 3:8 - Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.
