Luke 3:8 - Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.
Luke 3:9 - Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.”
Luke 3:10 - The crowds asked, “What should we do?”
Luke 3:11 - John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
Luke 3:12 - Even corrupt tax collectors came to be baptized and asked, “Teacher, what should we do?”
Luke 3:13 - He replied, “Collect no more taxes than the government requires.”
Luke 3:14 - “What should we do?” asked some soldiers. John replied, “Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay.”
Luke 7:13 - When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said.
2 Corinthians 8:7 - Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us —I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.
2 Corinthians 8:8 - I am not commanding you to do this. But I am testing how genuine your love is by comparing it with the eagerness of the other churches.
Luke 11:41 - So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over.
Acts of the Apostles 2:44 - And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.
Acts of the Apostles 2:45 - They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.
Acts of the Apostles 2:46 - They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity —
James 1:10 - And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.
James 1:11 - The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements.
Acts of the Apostles 4:34 - There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them
Acts of the Apostles 4:35 - and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.
1 Timothy 6:17 - Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
1 Timothy 6:18 - Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.
1 Samuel 12:3 - Now testify against me in the presence of the Lord and before his anointed one. Whose ox or donkey have I stolen? Have I ever cheated any of you? Have I ever oppressed you? Have I ever taken a bribe and perverted justice? Tell me and I will make right whatever I have done wrong.”
Luke 16:9 - Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.
Proverbs 6:31 - But if he is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, even if he has to sell everything in his house.
Exodus 22:1 - “If someone steals an ox or sheep and then kills or sells it, the thief must pay back five oxen for each ox stolen, and four sheep for each sheep stolen.
Exodus 22:2 - “If a thief is caught in the act of breaking into a house and is struck and killed in the process, the person who killed the thief is not guilty of murder.
Exodus 22:3 - But if it happens in daylight, the one who killed the thief is guilty of murder. “A thief who is caught must pay in full for everything he stole. If he cannot pay, he must be sold as a slave to pay for his theft.
Exodus 22:4 - If someone steals an ox or a donkey or a sheep and it is found in the thief’s possession, then the thief must pay double the value of the stolen animal.
Luke 12:33 - “Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.
Luke 18:22 - When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Luke 18:23 - But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was very rich.
Leviticus 6:1 - Then the Lord said to Moses,
Leviticus 6:2 - “Suppose one of you sins against your associate and is unfaithful to the Lord. Suppose you cheat in a deal involving a security deposit, or you steal or commit fraud,
Leviticus 6:3 - or you find lost property and lie about it, or you lie while swearing to tell the truth, or you commit any other such sin.
Leviticus 6:4 - If you have sinned in any of these ways, you are guilty. You must give back whatever you stole, or the money you took by extortion, or the security deposit, or the lost property you found,
Leviticus 6:5 - or anything obtained by swearing falsely. You must make restitution by paying the full price plus an additional 20 percent to the person you have harmed. On the same day you must present a guilt offering.
Leviticus 6:6 - As a guilt offering to the Lord, you must bring to the priest your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value.
Numbers 5:7 - They must confess their sin and make full restitution for what they have done, adding an additional 20 percent and returning it to the person who was wronged.
2 Samuel 12:6 - He must repay four lambs to the poor man for the one he stole and for having no pity.”
