- Isaiah 53:2 - For He [the Servant of God] grew up before Him like a tender shoot (plant), And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majestic splendor That we would look at Him, Nor [handsome] appearance that we would be attracted to Him.
- Isaiah 53:3 - He was despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and pain and acquainted with grief; And like One from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or esteem Him.
- Isaiah 53:4 - But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, And He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, Struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him].
- Isaiah 53:5 - But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.
- Isaiah 53:6 - All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the Lord has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] To fall on Him [instead of us].
- Isaiah 53:7 - He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth [to complain or defend Himself]; Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before her shearers, So He did not open His mouth.
- Isaiah 53:8 - After oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation [His contemporaries], who [among them] concerned himself with the fact That He was cut off from the land of the living [by His death] For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke [of death] was due?
- Isaiah 53:9 - His grave was assigned with the wicked, But He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
- Isaiah 53:10 - Yet the Lord was willing To crush Him, causing Him to suffer; If He would give Himself as a guilt offering [an atonement for sin], He shall see His [spiritual] offspring, He shall prolong His days, And the will (good pleasure) of the Lord shall succeed and prosper in His hand.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 - He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness].
- Leviticus 5:12 - He shall bring it to the priest, who shall take a handful of it as a memorial portion and offer it up in smoke on the altar, with the offerings by fire to the Lord; it is a sin offering.
- Exodus 16:18 - When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered a large amount had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered according to his need (family size).
- Psalms 69:1 - Save me, O God, For the waters have threatened my life [they have come up to my neck].
- Psalms 69:2 - I have sunk in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, where a flood overwhelms me.
- Psalms 69:3 - I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My eyes fail while I wait [with confident expectation] for my God.
- Psalms 69:4 - Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, being my enemies wrongfully; I am forced to restore what I did not steal.
- Psalms 69:5 - O God, You know my folly; My wrongs are not hidden from You.
- Psalms 69:6 - Do not let those who wait [confidently] for You be ashamed through me, O Lord God of hosts; Do not let those who seek You [as necessary for life itself] be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,
- Psalms 69:7 - Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Confusion and dishonor have covered my face.
- Psalms 69:8 - I have become estranged from my brothers And an alien to my mother’s sons.
- Psalms 69:9 - For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the [mocking] insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.
- Psalms 69:10 - When I wept and humbled myself with fasting, It became my reproach.
- Psalms 69:11 - When I made sackcloth my clothing [as one in mourning], I became a byword [a mere object of scorn] to them.
- Psalms 69:12 - They who sit in the [city’s] gate talk about me and mock me, And I am the song of the drunkards.
- Psalms 69:13 - But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, at an acceptable and opportune time; O God, in the greatness of Your favor and in the abundance of Your lovingkindness, Answer me with truth [that is, the faithfulness of Your salvation].
- Psalms 69:14 - Rescue me from the mire and do not let me sink; Let me be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep waters.
- Psalms 69:15 - Do not let the floodwater overwhelm me, Nor the deep waters swallow me up, Nor the pit [of Sheol] shut its mouth over me.
- Psalms 69:16 - Answer me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is sweet and good and comforting; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me.
- Psalms 69:17 - Do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.
- Psalms 69:18 - Draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies [so that they do not delight in my distress].
- Psalms 69:19 - You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor [how I am insulted]; My adversaries are all before You [each one fully known].
- Psalms 69:20 - Reproach and insults have broken my heart and I am so sick. I looked for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none.
- Psalms 69:21 - They (self-righteous hypocrites) also gave me gall [poisonous and bitter] for my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
- Leviticus 5:6 - He shall bring his guilt offering to the Lord for the sin which he has committed, a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin.
- Numbers 7:13 - and his offering was one silver dish, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver basin of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering;
- Leviticus 5:9 - He shall also sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be drained out at the base of the altar; it is a sin offering.
- Numbers 15:4 - The one who presents his offering shall present to the Lord a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a hin of oil,
- Numbers 15:5 - and you shall prepare wine for the drink offering, a fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.
- Numbers 15:6 - Or for a ram you shall prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil.
- Numbers 15:7 - And for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine, as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.
- Numbers 15:8 - When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice, in fulfilling a special vow or peace offering to the Lord,
- Numbers 15:9 - then you shall offer with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil;
- Leviticus 2:1 - ‘When anyone presents a grain offering to the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour, and he shall pour [olive] oil over it and put frankincense on it.
- Leviticus 2:2 - He shall bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests. Out of it he shall take a handful of the fine flour and oil, with all of its frankincense, and the priest shall offer this up in smoke on the altar [of burnt offering] as the memorial portion of it. It is an offering by fire, a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.
- Numbers 5:15 - then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and he shall bring as an offering for her, a tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense on it [the symbols of favor and joy], because it is a grain offering of jealousy, a memorial grain offering, a reminder of [the consequences of] wickedness.
