2 Samuel 19:28 - You should have put all the members of my grandfather’s family to death, including me. Instead, you always provided what I needed. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to you?”
Job 1:10 - Haven’t you guarded him and his family? Haven’t you taken care of everything he has? You have blessed everything he does. His flocks and herds are spread all through the land.
2 Samuel 19:22 - But David replied, “You and Joab are sons of Zeruiah. What does this have to do with you? What right do you have to interfere? Should anyone be put to death in Israel today? Don’t I know that today I am king over Israel again?”
2 Samuel 6:20 - David returned home to bless his family. Saul’s daughter Michal came out to meet him. She said, “You are the king of Israel. You have really brought honor to yourself today, haven’t you? You have gone around half-naked right in front of the female slaves of your officials. You acted like a fool!”
2 Samuel 6:21 - David said to Michal, “I did it to honor the Lord. He chose me instead of your father or anyone else in Saul’s family. The Lord appointed me ruler over his people Israel. I will celebrate to honor the Lord.
Genesis 3:17 - The Lord God said to Adam, “You listened to your wife’s suggestion. You ate fruit from the tree I warned you about. I said, ‘You must not eat its fruit.’ “So I am putting a curse on the ground because of what you did. All the days of your life you will have to work hard. It will be painful for you to get food from the ground.
2 Samuel 13:13 - What about me? How could I ever get rid of my shame? And what about you? You would be as foolish as any evil person in Israel. Please speak to the king. He won’t keep me from marrying you.”
James 3:2 - All of us get tripped up in many ways. Suppose someone is never wrong in what they say. Then they are perfect. They are able to keep their whole body under control.
Psalm 39:1 - I said, “I will be careful about how I live. I will not sin by what I say. I will keep my mouth closed when I am near sinful people.”
2 Samuel 24:10 - David felt sorry that he had counted the fighting men. So he said to the Lord, “I committed a great sin when I counted Judah and Israel’s men. Lord, I beg you to take away my guilt. I’ve done a very foolish thing.”
Hebrews 12:9 - Besides, we have all had human fathers who trained us. We respected them for it. How much more should we be trained by the Father of spirits and live!
Hebrews 12:10 - Our parents trained us for a little while. They did what they thought was best. But God trains us for our good. He does this so we may share in his holiness.
Hebrews 12:11 - No training seems pleasant at the time. In fact, it seems painful. But later on it produces a harvest of godliness and peace. It does this for those who have been trained by it.
Matthew 12:34 - You nest of poisonous snakes! How can you who are evil say anything good? Your mouths say everything that is in your hearts.
Matthew 12:35 - A good man says good things. These come from the good that is stored up inside him. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is stored up inside him.
Matthew 12:36 - But here is what I tell you. On judgment day, everyone will have to account for every empty word they have spoken.
Matthew 12:37 - By your words you will be found guilty or not guilty.”
John 18:11 - Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shouldn’t I drink the cup of suffering the Father has given me?”
Romans 12:12 - When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful.
Matthew 16:23 - Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are standing in my way. You do not have in mind the things God cares about. Instead, you only have in mind the things humans care about.”
James 5:10 - Brothers and sisters, think about the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. They are an example of how to be patient when you suffer.
James 5:11 - As you know, we think that people who don’t give up are blessed. You have heard that Job was patient. And you have seen what the Lord finally did for him. The Lord is full of tender mercy and loving concern.
Job 1:21 - He said, “I was born naked. And I’ll leave here naked. The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken away. May the name of the Lord be praised.”
Job 1:22 - In spite of everything, Job didn’t sin by blaming God for doing anything wrong.
Lamentations 3:38 - Troubles and good things alike come to people because the Most High God has commanded them to come.
Lamentations 3:39 - A person who is still alive shouldn’t blame God when God punishes them for their sins.
Lamentations 3:40 - Let’s take a good look at the way we’re living. Let’s return to the Lord.
Lamentations 3:41 - Let’s lift up our hands to God in heaven. Let’s pray to him with all our hearts.
James 1:12 - Blessed is the person who keeps on going when times are hard. After they have come through hard times, this person will receive a crown. The crown is life itself. The Lord has promised it to those who love him.
