After Zedekiah had seen the slaughter, Nebuchadnezzar blinded him, chained him up, and then took him off to Babylon.

  • Jeremiah 38:18 - But if you refuse to surrender, you will not escape! This city will be handed over to the Babylonians, and they will burn it to the ground.’”
  • Jeremiah 38:19 - “But I am afraid to surrender,” the king said, “for the Babylonians may hand me over to the Judeans who have defected to them. And who knows what they will do to me!”
  • Jeremiah 38:20 - Jeremiah replied, “You won’t be handed over to them if you choose to obey the Lord. Your life will be spared, and all will go well for you.
  • Deuteronomy 28:25 - “The Lord will cause you to be defeated by your enemies. You will attack your enemies from one direction, but you will scatter from them in seven! You will be an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

  • Jeremiah 52:11 - Then he gouged out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in bronze chains, and the king of Babylon led him away to Babylon. Zedekiah remained there in prison until the day of his death.

  • Deuteronomy 32:27 - But I feared the taunt of Israel’s enemy, who might misunderstand and say, “Our own power has triumphed! The Lord had nothing to do with this!”’
  • Deuteronomy 32:28 - “But Israel is a senseless nation; the people are foolish, without understanding.
  • Deuteronomy 32:29 - Oh, that they were wise and could understand this! Oh, that they might know their fate!
  • Deuteronomy 32:30 - How could one person chase a thousand of them, and two people put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?
  • Amos 2:14 - Your fastest runners will not get away. The strongest among you will become weak. Even mighty warriors will be unable to save themselves.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:5 - Then Hezekiah worked hard at repairing all the broken sections of the wall, erecting towers, and constructing a second wall outside the first. He also reinforced the supporting terraces in the City of David and manufactured large numbers of weapons and shields.
