- Jeremiah 52:11 - He also put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in bronze fetters, took him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
- Jeremiah 52:12 - Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month (which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.
- Jeremiah 52:13 - He burned the house of the Lord and the king’s house; all the houses of Jerusalem, that is, all the houses of the great, he burned with fire.
- Jeremiah 52:14 - And all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.
- Jeremiah 52:15 - Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive some of the poor people, the rest of the people who remained in the city, the defectors who had deserted to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen.
- Jeremiah 52:16 - But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left some of the poor of the land as vinedressers and farmers.
- Jeremiah 52:17 - The bronze pillars that were in the house of the Lord, and the carts and the bronze Sea that were in the house of the Lord, the Chaldeans broke in pieces, and carried all their bronze to Babylon.
- Jeremiah 52:18 - They also took away the pots, the shovels, the trimmers, the bowls, the spoons, and all the bronze utensils with which the priests ministered.
- Jeremiah 52:19 - The basins, the firepans, the bowls, the pots, the lampstands, the spoons, and the cups, whatever was solid gold and whatever was solid silver, the captain of the guard took away.
- Jeremiah 52:20 - The two pillars, one Sea, the twelve bronze bulls which were under it, and the carts, which King Solomon had made for the house of the Lord—the bronze of all these articles was beyond measure.
- Jeremiah 52:21 - Now concerning the pillars: the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, a measuring line of twelve cubits could measure its circumference, and its thickness was four fingers; it was hollow.
- Jeremiah 52:22 - A capital of bronze was on it; and the height of one capital was five cubits, with a network and pomegranates all around the capital, all of bronze. The second pillar, with pomegranates was the same.
- Jeremiah 52:23 - There were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides; all the pomegranates, all around on the network, were one hundred.
- Jeremiah 52:24 - The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and the three doorkeepers.
- Jeremiah 52:25 - He also took out of the city an officer who had charge of the men of war, seven men of the king’s close associates who were found in the city, the principal scribe of the army who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the midst of the city.
- Jeremiah 52:26 - And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took these and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
- Jeremiah 52:27 - Then the king of Babylon struck them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive from its own land.
- Jeremiah 52:28 - These are the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews;
- Jeremiah 52:29 - in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons;
- Jeremiah 52:30 - in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons. All the persons were four thousand six hundred.
- Jeremiah 52:31 - Now it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, that Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison.
- Jeremiah 52:32 - And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a more prominent seat than those of the kings who were with him in Babylon.
- Jeremiah 52:33 - So Jehoiachin changed from his prison garments, and he ate bread regularly before the king all the days of his life.
- Jeremiah 52:34 - And as for his provisions, there was a regular ration given him by the king of Babylon, a portion for each day until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
- Jeremiah 21:1 - The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying,
- Jeremiah 21:2 - “Please inquire of the Lord for us, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wonderful works, that the king may go away from us.”
- Jeremiah 21:3 - Then Jeremiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to Zedekiah,
- Jeremiah 21:4 - ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will assemble them in the midst of this city.
- Jeremiah 21:5 - I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath.
- Jeremiah 21:6 - I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they shall die of a great pestilence.
- Jeremiah 21:7 - And afterward,” says the Lord, “I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence and the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life; and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword. He shall not spare them, or have pity or mercy.” ’
- Jeremiah 21:8 - “Now you shall say to this people, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.
- Jeremiah 21:9 - He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but he who goes out and defects to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be as a prize to him.
- Jeremiah 21:10 - For I have set My face against this city for adversity and not for good,” says the Lord. “It shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.” ’
- Jeremiah 21:11 - “And concerning the house of the king of Judah, say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord,
- Jeremiah 21:12 - O house of David! Thus says the Lord: “Execute judgment in the morning; And deliver him who is plundered Out of the hand of the oppressor, Lest My fury go forth like fire And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.
- Jeremiah 21:13 - “Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, And rock of the plain,” says the Lord, “Who say, ‘Who shall come down against us? Or who shall enter our dwellings?’
- Jeremiah 21:14 - But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings,” says the Lord; “I will kindle a fire in its forest, And it shall devour all things around it.” ’ ”
- 1 Chronicles 3:15 - The sons of Josiah were Johanan the firstborn, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, and the fourth Shallum.
- Zechariah 7:5 - “Say to all the people of the land, and to the priests: ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months during those seventy years, did you really fast for Me—for Me?
- Jeremiah 37:1 - Now King Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
- Jeremiah 37:2 - But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land gave heed to the words of the Lord which He spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
- Jeremiah 37:3 - And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “Pray now to the Lord our God for us.”
- Jeremiah 37:4 - Now Jeremiah was coming and going among the people, for they had not yet put him in prison.
- Jeremiah 37:5 - Then Pharaoh’s army came up from Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
- Jeremiah 37:6 - Then the word of the Lord came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
- Jeremiah 37:7 - “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Thus you shall say to the king of Judah, who sent you to Me to inquire of Me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army which has come up to help you will return to Egypt, to their own land.
- Jeremiah 37:8 - And the Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city, and take it and burn it with fire.” ’
- Jeremiah 37:9 - Thus says the Lord: ‘Do not deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us,” for they will not depart.
- Jeremiah 37:10 - For though you had defeated the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained only wounded men among them, they would rise up, every man in his tent, and burn the city with fire.’ ”
- Jeremiah 37:11 - And it happened, when the army of the Chaldeans left the siege of Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
- Jeremiah 37:12 - that Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin to claim his property there among the people.
- Jeremiah 37:13 - And when he was in the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
- Jeremiah 37:14 - Then Jeremiah said, “False! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he did not listen to him. So Irijah seized Jeremiah and brought him to the princes.
- Jeremiah 37:15 - Therefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, and they struck him and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe. For they had made that the prison.
- Jeremiah 37:16 - When Jeremiah entered the dungeon and the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,
- Jeremiah 37:17 - then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out. The king asked him secretly in his house, and said, “Is there any word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said, “There is.” Then he said, “You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon!”
- Jeremiah 37:18 - Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “What offense have I committed against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
- Jeremiah 37:19 - Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land’?
- Jeremiah 37:20 - Therefore please hear now, O my lord the king. Please, let my petition be accepted before you, and do not make me return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
- Jeremiah 37:21 - Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah to the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread from the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
- Jeremiah 34:1 - The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth under his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem and all its cities, saying,
- Jeremiah 34:2 - “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah and tell him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
- Jeremiah 34:3 - And you shall not escape from his hand, but shall surely be taken and delivered into his hand; your eyes shall see the eyes of the king of Babylon, he shall speak with you face to face, and you shall go to Babylon.’ ” ’
- Jeremiah 34:4 - Yet hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah! Thus says the Lord concerning you: ‘You shall not die by the sword.
- Jeremiah 34:5 - You shall die in peace; as in the ceremonies of your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they shall burn incense for you and lament for you, saying, “Alas, lord!” For I have pronounced the word, says the Lord.’ ”
- Jeremiah 34:6 - Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
- Jeremiah 34:7 - when the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and Azekah; for only these fortified cities remained of the cities of Judah.
- Jeremiah 34:8 - This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem to proclaim liberty to them:
- Jeremiah 34:9 - that every man should set free his male and female slave—a Hebrew man or woman—that no one should keep a Jewish brother in bondage.
- Jeremiah 34:10 - Now when all the princes and all the people, who had entered into the covenant, heard that everyone should set free his male and female slaves, that no one should keep them in bondage anymore, they obeyed and let them go.
- Jeremiah 34:11 - But afterward they changed their minds and made the male and female slaves return, whom they had set free, and brought them into subjection as male and female slaves.
- Jeremiah 34:12 - Therefore the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
- Jeremiah 34:13 - “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying,
- Jeremiah 34:14 - “At the end of seven years let every man set free his Hebrew brother, who has been sold to him; and when he has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you.” But your fathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear.
- Jeremiah 34:15 - Then you recently turned and did what was right in My sight—every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor; and you made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My name.
- Jeremiah 34:16 - Then you turned around and profaned My name, and every one of you brought back his male and female slaves, whom you had set at liberty, at their pleasure, and brought them back into subjection, to be your male and female slaves.’
- Jeremiah 34:17 - “Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and every one to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim liberty to you,’ says the Lord—‘to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine! And I will deliver you to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth.
- Jeremiah 34:18 - And I will give the men who have transgressed My covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between the parts of it—
- Jeremiah 34:19 - the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf—
- 2 Kings 23:34 - Then Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Pharaoh took Jehoahaz and went to Egypt, and he died there.
- Jeremiah 39:2 - In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was penetrated.
- 2 Chronicles 36:5 - Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did evil in the sight of the Lord his God.
- 2 Chronicles 36:6 - Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him, and bound him in bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon.
- 2 Chronicles 36:7 - Nebuchadnezzar also carried off some of the articles from the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
- 2 Chronicles 36:8 - Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, the abominations which he did, and what was found against him, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
