Micah 3:3 - You eat my people’s bodies. You strip off their skin. You break their bones in pieces. You chop them up like meat. You put them in a cooking pot.”
Zechariah 7:9 - Here is what the Lord who rules over all said to his people. “Treat everyone with justice. Show mercy and tender concern to one another.
Zechariah 7:10 - Do not take advantage of widows. Do not mistreat children whose fathers have died. Do not be mean to outsiders or poor people. Do not make evil plans against one another.”
Zechariah 7:11 - But they refused to pay attention to the Lord. They were stubborn. They turned their backs and covered their ears.
Mark 14:65 - Then some began to spit at him. They blindfolded him. They hit him with their fists. They said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.
Micah 7:3 - They are very good at doing what is evil. Rulers require gifts. Judges accept money from people who want special favors. Those who are powerful always get what they want. All of them make evil plans together.
Micah 7:4 - The best of these people are as harmful as thorns. The most honest of them are even worse. God has come to punish you. The time your prophets warned you about has come. Panic has taken hold of you.
Micah 7:5 - Don’t trust your neighbors. Don’t put your faith in your friends. Be careful what you say even to your own wife.
Micah 7:6 - Sons don’t honor their fathers. Daughters refuse to obey their mothers. Daughters-in-law are against their mothers-in-law. A man’s enemies are the members of his own family.
Isaiah 9:19 - The Lord rules over all. When he gets angry, he will burn up the land. The people will burn in the fire. They will not spare one another.
Isaiah 9:20 - People will eat up everything they can find on their right. But they’ll still be hungry. They will eat everything they can find on their left. But they won’t be satisfied. So they will eat the dead bodies of their children.
Isaiah 9:21 - That’s what Manasseh’s people will do to Ephraim. And that’s what Ephraim’s people will do to Manasseh. Together they will turn against Judah. Even then, the Lord is still angry. His hand is still raised against them.
2 Kings 2:23 - Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. He was walking along the road. Some boys came out of the town. They made fun of him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here! You don’t even have any hair on your head!”
Luke 22:64 - They blindfolded him. They said, “Prophesy! Who hit you?”
Amos 4:1 - Listen to the Lord’s message, you women who live on the hill of Samaria. You treat poor people badly. You crush those who are in need. You say to your husbands, “Bring us some drinks!” But you are already as fat as the cows in Bashan.
Matthew 27:28 - They took off his clothes and put a purple robe on him.
Matthew 27:29 - Then they twisted thorns together to make a crown. They placed it on his head. They put a stick in his right hand. Then they fell on their knees in front of him and made fun of him. “We honor you, king of the Jews!” they said.
Matthew 27:30 - They spit on him. They hit him on the head with the stick again and again.
Ezekiel 22:6 - “ ‘ “The princes of Israel are in your city. All of them use their power to spill blood.
Ezekiel 22:7 - They have made fun of fathers and mothers alike. They have crushed outsiders. They have treated badly the children whose fathers have died. They have done the same thing to widows.
Isaiah 1:4 - How terrible it will be for this sinful nation! They are loaded down with guilt. They are people who do nothing but evil. They are children who are always sinning. They have deserted the Lord. They have turned against the Holy One of Israel. They have turned their backs on him.
Leviticus 19:32 - “ ‘Stand up in order to show your respect for old people. Also have respect for me. I am the Lord your God.
James 2:6 - But you have disrespected poor people. Aren’t rich people taking advantage of you? Aren’t they dragging you into court?
2 Samuel 16:5 - King David approached Bahurim. As he did, a man came out toward him. The man was from the same family group that Saul was from. His name was Shimei. He was the son of Gera. As he came out of the town, he cursed David.
2 Samuel 16:6 - He threw stones at David and all his officials. He did it even though all the troops and the special guard were there. They were to the right and left of David.
2 Samuel 16:7 - As Shimei cursed, he said, “Get out! Get out, you murderer! You are a worthless and evil man!
2 Samuel 16:8 - You spilled the blood of a lot of people in Saul’s family. You took over his kingdom. Now the Lord is paying you back. He has handed the kingdom over to your son Absalom. You have been destroyed because you are a murderer!”
2 Samuel 16:9 - Then Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, spoke to the king. He said, “King David, why should we let this dead dog curse you? Let me go over there. I’ll cut off his head.”
Job 30:1 - “But now those who are younger than I am make fun of me. I wouldn’t even put their parents with my sheep dogs!
Job 30:2 - Their strong hands couldn’t give me any help. That’s because their strength was gone.
Job 30:3 - They were weak because they were needy and hungry. They wandered through dry and empty deserts at night.
Job 30:4 - Among the bushes they gathered salty plants. They ate the roots of desert bushes.
Job 30:5 - They were driven away from human society. They were shouted at as if they were robbers.
Job 30:6 - They were forced to live in dry stream beds. They had to stay among rocks and in holes in the ground.
Job 30:7 - Like donkeys they cried out among the bushes. There they crowded together and hid.
Job 30:8 - They were so foolish that no one respected them. They were driven out of the land.
Job 30:9 - “Now their children laugh at me. They make fun of me with their songs.
Job 30:10 - They hate me. They stay away from me. They even dare to spit in my face.
Job 30:11 - God has made my body weak. It’s like a tent that has fallen down. So those children do what they want to in front of me.
Job 30:12 - Many people attack me on my right side. They lay traps for my feet. They come at me from every direction.
Ezekiel 22:12 - You accept money from people who want special favors. You do this to spill someone’s blood. You charge interest to poor people when you lend them money. You make money from them. You get rich by cheating your neighbors. And you have forgotten me,” announces the Lord and King.
James 5:4 - You have even failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields. Their pay is crying out against you. The cries of those who gathered the harvest have reached the ears of the Lord. He rules over all.
Isaiah 11:13 - Ephraim’s people won’t be jealous anymore. Judah’s attackers will be destroyed. Ephraim won’t be jealous of Judah. And Judah won’t attack Ephraim.
Matthew 26:67 - Then they spit in his face. They hit him with their fists. Others slapped him.
Jeremiah 9:3 - “They get ready to use their tongues like bows,” announces the Lord. “Their mouths shoot out lies like arrows. They tell lies to gain power in the land. They go from one sin to another. They do not pay any attention to me.
Jeremiah 9:4 - Be on guard against your friends. Do not trust the members of your own family. Every one of them cheats. Every friend tells lies.
Jeremiah 9:5 - One friend cheats another. No one tells the truth. They have taught their tongues how to lie. They wear themselves out sinning.
Jeremiah 9:6 - Jeremiah, you live among people who tell lies. When they lie, they refuse to pay any attention to me,” announces the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:7 - So the Lord who rules over all says, “I will put them through the fire to test them. What else can I do? My people are so sinful!
Jeremiah 9:8 - Their tongues are like deadly arrows. They tell lies. With their mouths all of them speak kindly to their neighbors. But in their hearts they set traps for them.
