1 Corinthians 14:19 - In the church, I wouldn’t want to speak 10,000 words in an unfamiliar language. I’d rather speak five words in a language people could understand. Then I would be teaching others.
Jude 1:13 - They are like wild waves of the sea. Their shame rises up like foam. They are like falling stars. God has reserved a place of very black darkness for them forever.
Jude 1:14 - Enoch was the seventh man in the family line of Adam. He gave a prophecy about these people. He said, “Look! The Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of his holy ones.
Jude 1:15 - He is coming to judge everyone. He is coming to sentence all of them. He will judge them for all the ungodly acts they have done. They have done them in ungodly ways. He will sentence ungodly sinners for all the things they have said to oppose him.”
Jude 1:16 - These people complain and find fault with others. They follow their own evil desires. They brag about themselves. They praise others to get what they want.
Ephesians 4:12 - He gave all these people so that they might prepare God’s people to serve. Then the body of Christ will be built up.
Psalm 45:2 - You are the most excellent of men. Your lips have been given the ability to speak gracious words. God has blessed you forever.
Psalm 71:24 - All day long my tongue will say that you have done what is right. Those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame. They have not been honored.
1 Peter 3:1 - Wives, follow the lead of your own husbands. Suppose some of them don’t believe God’s word. Then let them be won to Christ without words by seeing how their wives behave.
Deuteronomy 6:6 - The commandments I give you today must be in your hearts.
Deuteronomy 6:7 - Make sure your children learn them. Talk about them when you are at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road. Speak about them when you go to bed. And speak about them when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:8 - Write them down and tie them on your hands as a reminder. Also tie them on your foreheads.
Deuteronomy 6:9 - Write them on the doorframes of your houses. Also write them on your gates.
Ephesians 4:16 - He makes the whole body grow and build itself up in love. Under the control of Christ, each part of the body does its work. It supports the other parts. In that way, the body is joined and held together.
Psalm 73:7 - Many sins come out of their hard and stubborn hearts. There is no limit to the evil things they can think up.
Psalm 73:8 - They laugh at others and speak words of hatred. They are proud. They warn others about the harm they can do to them.
Psalm 73:9 - They brag as if they owned heaven itself. They talk as if they controlled the earth.
Malachi 3:16 - Those who had respect for the Lord talked with one another. And the Lord heard them. A list of people and what they did was written in a book in front of him. It included the names of those who respected the Lord and honored him.
Malachi 3:17 - “The day is coming when I will judge,” says the Lord who rules over all. “On that day they will be my special treasure. I will spare them just as a father loves and spares his son who serves him.
Malachi 3:18 - Then once again you will see the difference between godly people and sinful people. And you will see the difference between those who serve me and those who do not.
Psalm 71:17 - God, ever since I was young you have taught me. To this very day I tell about your wonderful acts.
Psalm 71:18 - God, don’t leave me even when I’m old and have gray hair. Let me live to tell my children about your power. Let me tell all of them about your mighty acts.
Romans 3:13 - “Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.” ( Psalm 5:9 ) “The words from their lips are like the poison of a snake.” ( Psalm 140:3 )
Romans 3:14 - “Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness.” ( Psalm 10:7 )
Psalm 5:9 - Not a word from their mouths can be trusted. Their hearts are filled with a desire to hurt others. Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.
1 Corinthians 15:32 - Did I fight wild animals in Ephesus with nothing more than human hopes? Then what have I gotten for it? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, because tomorrow we will die.” ( Isaiah 22:13 )
1 Corinthians 15:33 - Don’t let anyone fool you. “Bad companions make a good person bad.”
1 Peter 2:12 - People who don’t believe might say you are doing wrong. But lead good lives among them. Then they will see your good deeds. And they will give glory to God on the day he comes to judge.
Psalm 52:2 - You plan ways to destroy others. Your tongue is like a blade that has a sharp edge. You are always telling lies.
Proverbs 15:23 - Joy is found in giving the right answer. And how good is a word spoken at the right time!
Luke 4:22 - Everyone said good things about him. They were amazed at the gracious words they heard from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.
Isaiah 50:4 - The Lord and King has taught me what to say. He has taught me how to help those who are tired. He wakes me up every morning. He makes me want to listen like a good student.
Colossians 3:16 - Let the message about Christ live among you like a rich treasure. Teach and correct one another wisely. Teach one another by singing psalms and hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing to God with thanks in your hearts.
Colossians 3:17 - Do everything you say or do in the name of the Lord Jesus. Always give thanks to God the Father through Christ.
Proverbs 16:21 - Wise hearts are known for understanding what is right. Kind words make people want to learn more.
Proverbs 10:31 - The mouths of those who do right produce wisdom. But tongues that speak twisted words will be made silent.
Proverbs 10:32 - Those who do right know the proper thing to say. But those who do wrong speak only twisted words.
Matthew 5:16 - In the same way, let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Ephesians 5:3 - There should not be even a hint of sexual sin among you. Don’t do anything impure. And do not always want more and more. These are not the things God’s holy people should do.
Ephesians 5:4 - There must not be any bad language or foolish talk or dirty jokes. They are out of place. Instead, you should give thanks.
Proverbs 15:2 - The tongues of wise people use knowledge well. But the mouths of foolish people pour out foolish words.
Proverbs 15:3 - The eyes of the Lord are everywhere. They watch those who are evil and those who are good.
Proverbs 15:4 - A tongue that calms is like a tree of life. But a tongue that tells lies produces a broken spirit.
Proverbs 12:13 - Those who do evil are trapped by their sinful talk. But those who have done no wrong escape trouble.
Psalm 37:30 - The mouths of those who do what is right speak words of wisdom. They say what is honest.
Psalm 37:31 - God’s law is in their hearts. Their feet do not slip.
James 3:2 - All of us get tripped up in many ways. Suppose someone is never wrong in what they say. Then they are perfect. They are able to keep their whole body under control.
James 3:3 - We put a small piece of metal in the mouth of a horse to make it obey us. We can control the whole animal with it.
James 3:4 - And how about ships? They are very big. They are driven along by strong winds. But they are steered by a very small rudder. It makes them go where the captain wants to go.
James 3:5 - In the same way, the tongue is a small part of a person’s body. But it talks big. Think about how a small spark can set a big forest on fire.
James 3:6 - The tongue is also a fire. The tongue is the most evil part of the body. It makes the whole body impure. It sets a person’s whole way of life on fire. And the tongue itself is set on fire by hell.
James 3:7 - People have tamed all kinds of wild animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures. And they still tame them.
James 3:8 - But no one can tame the tongue. It is an evil thing that never rests. It is full of deadly poison.
Colossians 3:8 - But now here are the kinds of things you must also get rid of. You must get rid of anger, rage, hate and lies. Let no dirty words come out of your mouths.
Colossians 3:9 - Don’t lie to one another. You have gotten rid of your old way of life and its habits.
Proverbs 25:11 - The right ruling at the right time is like golden apples in silver jewelry.
Proverbs 25:12 - A wise judge’s warning to a listening ear is like a gold earring or jewelry made of fine gold.
Matthew 12:34 - You nest of poisonous snakes! How can you who are evil say anything good? Your mouths say everything that is in your hearts.
Matthew 12:35 - A good man says good things. These come from the good that is stored up inside him. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is stored up inside him.
Matthew 12:36 - But here is what I tell you. On judgment day, everyone will have to account for every empty word they have spoken.
Matthew 12:37 - By your words you will be found guilty or not guilty.”
Proverbs 15:7 - The lips of wise people spread knowledge. But the hearts of foolish people are not honest.
Ecclesiastes 10:12 - Wise people say gracious things. But foolish people are destroyed by what their own lips speak.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 - So encourage one another with the hope you have. Build each other up. In fact, that’s what you are doing.
Colossians 4:6 - Let the words you speak always be full of grace. Learn how to make your words what people want to hear. Then you will know how to answer everyone.
