  • Leviticus 23:6 - On the next day, the fifteenth day of the month, you must begin celebrating the Festival of Unleavened Bread. This festival to the Lord continues for seven days, and during that time the bread you eat must be made without yeast.
  • Leviticus 23:7 - On the first day of the festival, all the people must stop their ordinary work and observe an official day for holy assembly.
  • Leviticus 23:8 - For seven days you must present special gifts to the Lord. On the seventh day the people must again stop all their ordinary work to observe an official day for holy assembly.”
  • Exodus 12:3 - Announce to the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each family must choose a lamb or a young goat for a sacrifice, one animal for each household.
  • Exodus 12:4 - If a family is too small to eat a whole animal, let them share with another family in the neighborhood. Divide the animal according to the size of each family and how much they can eat.
  • Exodus 12:5 - The animal you select must be a one-year-old male, either a sheep or a goat, with no defects.
  • Exodus 12:6 - “Take special care of this chosen animal until the evening of the fourteenth day of this first month. Then the whole assembly of the community of Israel must slaughter their lamb or young goat at twilight.
  • Exodus 12:7 - They are to take some of the blood and smear it on the sides and top of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the animal.
  • Exodus 12:8 - That same night they must roast the meat over a fire and eat it along with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast.
  • Exodus 12:9 - Do not eat any of the meat raw or boiled in water. The whole animal—including the head, legs, and internal organs—must be roasted over a fire.
  • Exodus 12:10 - Do not leave any of it until the next morning. Burn whatever is not eaten before morning.
  • Exodus 12:11 - “These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the Lord’s Passover.
  • Exodus 12:12 - On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord!
  • Exodus 12:13 - But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.
  • Exodus 12:14 - “This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must celebrate it as a special festival to the Lord. This is a law for all time.
  • Exodus 12:15 - For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast. On the first day of the festival, remove every trace of yeast from your homes. Anyone who eats bread made with yeast during the seven days of the festival will be cut off from the community of Israel.
  • Exodus 12:16 - On the first day of the festival and again on the seventh day, all the people must observe an official day for holy assembly. No work of any kind may be done on these days except in the preparation of food.
  • Exodus 12:17 - “Celebrate this Festival of Unleavened Bread, for it will remind you that I brought your forces out of the land of Egypt on this very day. This festival will be a permanent law for you; celebrate this day from generation to generation.
  • Exodus 12:18 - The bread you eat must be made without yeast from the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month until the evening of the twenty-first day of that month.
  • Exodus 12:19 - During those seven days, there must be no trace of yeast in your homes. Anyone who eats anything made with yeast during this week will be cut off from the community of Israel. These regulations apply both to the foreigners living among you and to the native-born Israelites.
  • Exodus 12:20 - During those days you must not eat anything made with yeast. Wherever you live, eat only bread made without yeast.”
  • 2 Chronicles 35:1 - Then Josiah announced that the Passover of the Lord would be celebrated in Jerusalem, and so the Passover lamb was slaughtered on the fourteenth day of the first month.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:2 - Josiah also assigned the priests to their duties and encouraged them in their work at the Temple of the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:3 - He issued this order to the Levites, who were to teach all Israel and who had been set apart to serve the Lord: “Put the holy Ark in the Temple that was built by Solomon son of David, the king of Israel. You no longer need to carry it back and forth on your shoulders. Now spend your time serving the Lord your God and his people Israel.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:4 - Report for duty according to the family divisions of your ancestors, following the directions of King David of Israel and the directions of his son Solomon.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:5 - “Then stand in the sanctuary at the place appointed for your family division and help the families assigned to you as they bring their offerings to the Temple.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:6 - Slaughter the Passover lambs, purify yourselves, and prepare to help those who come. Follow all the directions that the Lord gave through Moses.”
  • 2 Chronicles 35:7 - Then Josiah provided 30,000 lambs and young goats for the people’s Passover offerings, along with 3,000 cattle, all from the king’s own flocks and herds.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:8 - The king’s officials also made willing contributions to the people, priests, and Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of God’s Temple, gave the priests 2,600 lambs and young goats and 300 cattle as Passover offerings.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:9 - The Levite leaders—Conaniah and his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad—gave 5,000 lambs and young goats and 500 cattle to the Levites for their Passover offerings.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:10 - When everything was ready for the Passover celebration, the priests and the Levites took their places, organized by their divisions, as the king had commanded.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:11 - The Levites then slaughtered the Passover lambs and presented the blood to the priests, who sprinkled the blood on the altar while the Levites prepared the animals.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:12 - They divided the burnt offerings among the people by their family groups, so they could offer them to the Lord as prescribed in the Book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:13 - Then they roasted the Passover lambs as prescribed; and they boiled the holy offerings in pots, kettles, and pans, and brought them out quickly so the people could eat them.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:14 - Afterward the Levites prepared Passover offerings for themselves and for the priests—the descendants of Aaron—because the priests had been busy from morning till night offering the burnt offerings and the fat portions. The Levites took responsibility for all these preparations.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:15 - The musicians, descendants of Asaph, were in their assigned places, following the commands that had been given by David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, the king’s seer. The gatekeepers guarded the gates and did not need to leave their posts of duty, for their Passover offerings were prepared for them by their fellow Levites.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:16 - The entire ceremony for the Lord’s Passover was completed that day. All the burnt offerings were sacrificed on the altar of the Lord, as King Josiah had commanded.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:17 - All the Israelites present in Jerusalem celebrated Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:18 - Never since the time of the prophet Samuel had there been such a Passover. None of the kings of Israel had ever kept a Passover as Josiah did, involving all the priests and Levites, all the people of Jerusalem, and people from all over Judah and Israel.
  • 2 Chronicles 35:19 - This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s reign.
  • Numbers 9:2 - “Tell the Israelites to celebrate the Passover at the prescribed time,
  • Numbers 9:3 - at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. Be sure to follow all my decrees and regulations concerning this celebration.”
  • Numbers 9:4 - So Moses told the people to celebrate the Passover
  • Numbers 9:5 - in the wilderness of Sinai as twilight fell on the fourteenth day of the month. And they celebrated the festival there, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
  • Numbers 28:16 - “On the fourteenth day of the first month, you must celebrate the Lord’s Passover.
  • Numbers 28:17 - On the following day—the fifteenth day of the month—a joyous, seven-day festival will begin, but no bread made with yeast may be eaten.
  • Numbers 28:18 - The first day of the festival will be an official day for holy assembly, and no ordinary work may be done on that day.
  • Numbers 28:19 - As a special gift you must present a burnt offering to the Lord—two young bulls, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects.
  • Numbers 28:20 - These will be accompanied by grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts with each bull, four quarts with the ram,
  • Numbers 28:21 - and two quarts with each of the seven lambs.
  • Numbers 28:22 - You must also offer a male goat as a sin offering to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the Lord.
  • Numbers 28:23 - Present these offerings in addition to your regular morning burnt offering.
  • Numbers 28:24 - On each of the seven days of the festival, this is how you must prepare the food offering that is presented as a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. These will be offered in addition to the regular burnt offerings and liquid offerings.
  • Numbers 28:25 - The seventh day of the festival will be another official day for holy assembly, and no ordinary work may be done on that day.
  • Deuteronomy 16:1 - “In honor of the Lord your God, celebrate the Passover each year in the early spring, in the month of Abib, for that was the month in which the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.
  • Deuteronomy 16:2 - Your Passover sacrifice may be from either the flock or the herd, and it must be sacrificed to the Lord your God at the designated place of worship—the place he chooses for his name to be honored.
  • Deuteronomy 16:3 - Eat it with bread made without yeast. For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast, as when you escaped from Egypt in such a hurry. Eat this bread—the bread of suffering—so that as long as you live you will remember the day you departed from Egypt.
  • Deuteronomy 16:4 - Let no yeast be found in any house throughout your land for those seven days. And when you sacrifice the Passover lamb on the evening of the first day, do not let any of the meat remain until the next morning.
  • Deuteronomy 16:5 - “You may not sacrifice the Passover in just any of the towns that the Lord your God is giving you.
  • Deuteronomy 16:6 - You must offer it only at the designated place of worship—the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to be honored. Sacrifice it there in the evening as the sun goes down on the anniversary of your exodus from Egypt.
  • Deuteronomy 16:7 - Roast the lamb and eat it in the place the Lord your God chooses. Then you may go back to your tents the next morning.
  • Deuteronomy 16:8 - For the next six days you may not eat any bread made with yeast. On the seventh day proclaim another holy day in honor of the Lord your God, and no work may be done on that day.
