  • Isaiah 37:25 - I have dug wells in many foreign lands and refreshed myself with their water. With the sole of my foot, I stopped up all the rivers of Egypt!’
  • Isaiah 37:26 - “But have you not heard? I decided this long ago. Long ago I planned it, and now I am making it happen. I planned for you to crush fortified cities into heaps of rubble.
  • Isaiah 37:27 - That is why their people have so little power and are so frightened and confused. They are as weak as grass, as easily trampled as tender green shoots. They are like grass sprouting on a housetop, scorched before it can grow lush and tall.
  • Isaiah 37:28 - “But I know you well— where you stay and when you come and go. I know the way you have raged against me.

  • Isaiah 37:31 - And you who are left in Judah, who have escaped the ravages of the siege, will put roots down in your own soil and grow up and flourish.
  • Isaiah 37:32 - For a remnant of my people will spread out from Jerusalem, a group of survivors from Mount Zion. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
  • Isaiah 37:33 - “And this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria: “‘His armies will not enter Jerusalem. They will not even shoot an arrow at it. They will not march outside its gates with their shields nor build banks of earth against its walls.
  • Isaiah 37:34 - The king will return to his own country by the same road on which he came. He will not enter this city,’ says the Lord.
  • Isaiah 37:35 - ‘For my own honor and for the sake of my servant David, I will defend this city and protect it.’”
  • Isaiah 47:1 - “Come down, virgin daughter of Babylon, and sit in the dust. For your days of sitting on a throne have ended. O daughter of Babylonia, never again will you be the lovely princess, tender and delicate.
  • Micah 4:8 - As for you, Jerusalem, the citadel of God’s people, your royal might and power will come back to you again. The kingship will be restored to my precious Jerusalem.
  • Isaiah 47:5 - “O beautiful Babylon, sit now in darkness and silence. Never again will you be known as the queen of kingdoms.

  • Amos 5:2 - “The virgin Israel has fallen, never to rise again! She lies abandoned on the ground, with no one to help her up.”
  • Isaiah 23:10 - Come, people of Tarshish, sweep over the land like the flooding Nile, for Tyre is defenseless.
  • Isaiah 23:12 - He says, “Never again will you rejoice, O daughter of Sidon, for you have been crushed. Even if you flee to Cyprus, you will find no rest.”
  • Jeremiah 31:4 - I will rebuild you, my virgin Israel. You will again be happy and dance merrily with your tambourines.
  • Jeremiah 46:11 - “Go up to Gilead to get medicine, O virgin daughter of Egypt! But your many treatments will bring you no healing.
  • Jeremiah 18:13 - So this is what the Lord says: “Has anyone ever heard of such a thing, even among the pagan nations? My virgin daughter Israel has done something terrible!
  • Lamentations 1:15 - “The Lord has treated my mighty men with contempt. At his command a great army has come to crush my young warriors. The Lord has trampled his beloved city like grapes are trampled in a winepress.
  • Psalms 137:8 - O Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy is the one who pays you back for what you have done to us.
  • Isaiah 1:8 - Beautiful Jerusalem stands abandoned like a watchman’s shelter in a vineyard, like a lean-to in a cucumber field after the harvest, like a helpless city under siege.
  • Lamentations 2:15 - All who pass by jeer at you. They scoff and insult beautiful Jerusalem, saying, “Is this the city called ‘Most Beautiful in All the World’ and ‘Joy of All the Earth’?”
  • Psalms 22:7 - Everyone who sees me mocks me. They sneer and shake their heads, saying,
  • Psalms 22:8 - “Is this the one who relies on the Lord? Then let the Lord save him! If the Lord loves him so much, let the Lord rescue him!”
  • Matthew 27:39 - The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery.
  • Psalms 109:25 - I am a joke to people everywhere; when they see me, they shake their heads in scorn.
  • Job 16:4 - I could say the same things if you were in my place. I could spout off criticism and shake my head at you.
  • Jeremiah 14:17 - Now, Jeremiah, say this to them: “Night and day my eyes overflow with tears. I cannot stop weeping, for my virgin daughter—my precious people— has been struck down and lies mortally wounded.
  • Lamentations 2:13 - What can I say about you? Who has ever seen such sorrow? O daughter of Jerusalem, to what can I compare your anguish? O virgin daughter of Zion, how can I comfort you? For your wound is as deep as the sea. Who can heal you?
