  • Esther 8:11 - In it the king granted the Jews who were in every city the right to assemble and to defend their lives; to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate any armed force that might attack them, their little children, and women; and to take the enemies’ goods as plunder,
  • Esther 8:12 - on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month (that is, the month of Adar).
  • Esther 8:13 - A copy of the edict was to be issued as a law in every province and as a proclamation to all peoples, so that the Jews would be ready on that day, to avenge themselves on their enemies.
  • 2 Samuel 11:14 - In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah.
  • 2 Samuel 11:15 - He wrote in the letter, “Put Uriah in the front line of the heaviest fighting and leave him, so that he may be struck down and die.”

  • 2 Kings 10:3 - select the best and most capable of your master’s sons, and set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s [royal] house.”
  • 2 Kings 10:4 - But they were extremely afraid and said, “Look, the two kings did not stand before Jehu; so how can we stand?”
  • 2 Kings 10:5 - And the one who was in charge of the household, and the one who was overseer of the city, the elders, and the guardians [of the children] sent word to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants and we will do whatever you tell us, but we will not make any man king; do what is good in your eyes.”
  • 2 Kings 10:6 - Then Jehu wrote a second letter to them, saying, “If you are with me and will obey me, take the heads of your master’s sons, and come to me at Jezreel tomorrow about this time.” Now the [dead] king’s sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who were rearing them.
  • 2 Kings 10:7 - When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.
  • 1 Kings 20:7 - Then the king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said, “Please observe and see how this man is seeking our destruction. For he sent messengers to me for my wives, my children, my silver, and my gold, and I did not refuse him.”
  • Deuteronomy 16:18 - “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your cities (gates) which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
  • Deuteronomy 16:19 - You shall not distort justice; you shall not be partial, and you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.
  • Deuteronomy 21:1 - “If someone is found slain, lying in the field, in the land which the Lord your God gives you to possess, and it is not known who has killed him,
  • Deuteronomy 21:2 - then your elders and judges shall go out and measure the distance to the cities which are around the dead person.
  • Deuteronomy 21:3 - It shall be that the elders of the city which is nearest to the dead man shall take a heifer of the herd, one which has not been worked and which has not pulled in a yoke;
  • Deuteronomy 21:4 - and the elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a [river] valley with running water, which has not been plowed or planted, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.
  • Deuteronomy 21:5 - Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall approach, for the Lord your God has chosen them to serve Him and to bless in the Name (Presence) of the Lord; and every dispute and every assault (violent crime) shall be settled by them.
  • Deuteronomy 21:6 - All the elders of that city nearest to the dead man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley;
  • Deuteronomy 21:7 - and they shall respond, and say, ‘Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it.
  • Deuteronomy 21:8 - Forgive Your people Israel whom You have redeemed, O Lord, and do not put the guilt of innocent blood among Your people Israel.’ And the guilt of blood shall be forgiven them.
  • Deuteronomy 21:9 - So shall you remove the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord.
  • 2 Kings 10:11 - So Jehu killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men and his familiar friends and his priests, until he left him without a survivor.
  • Nehemiah 6:5 - Then Sanballat sent his servant to me in the same way the fifth time, with an open letter in his hand.
  • Ezra 4:11 - this is a copy of the letter which they sent to him: “To King Artaxerxes from your servants, the men in the region west of the [Euphrates] River; and now:
  • Esther 3:12 - Then the king’s scribes (secretaries) were summoned on the thirteenth day of the first month, and it was written just as Haman commanded to the king’s satraps (chief rulers), and to the governors who were over each province and to the officials of each people, each province according to its script (writing), each people according to their own language; being written in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king’s signet ring.
  • Esther 3:13 - Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces to destroy, to kill and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar (March 7, 473 b.c.), and to seize their belongings as plunder.
  • Esther 3:14 - A copy of the edict to be decreed as law in every province was published to all the peoples, so that they would be ready for this day.
  • Esther 3:15 - The couriers went out hurriedly by order of the king, and the decree was issued at the citadel in Susa. And while the king and Haman sat down to drink, the city of Susa was perplexed [by the unusual and alarming decree].
