Esther 2:3 - Let the king appoint commissioners in each province of his kingdom, so that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to the harem at the fortress of Susa. Put them under the supervision of Hegai, the king’s eunuch, keeper of the women, and give them the required beauty treatments.
Esther 2:4 - Then the young woman who pleases the king will become queen instead of Vashti.” This suggestion pleased the king, and he did accordingly.
Exodus 1:14 - and made their lives bitter with difficult labor in brick and mortar and in all kinds of fieldwork. They ruthlessly imposed all this work on them.
Exodus 5:5 - Pharaoh also said, “Look, the people of the land are so numerous, and you would stop them from their labor.”
Exodus 5:6 - That day Pharaoh commanded the overseers of the people as well as their foremen,
Exodus 5:7 - “Don’t continue to supply the people with straw for making bricks, as before. They must go and gather straw for themselves.
Exodus 5:8 - But require the same quota of bricks from them as they were making before; do not reduce it. For they are slackers — that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
Exodus 5:9 - Impose heavier work on the men. Then they will be occupied with it and not pay attention to deceptive words.”
1 Kings 12:10 - The young men who had grown up with him told him, “This is what you should say to this people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you, make it lighter on us! ’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist!
1 Kings 12:11 - Although my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with barbed whips.’”
Exodus 5:16 - No straw has been given to your servants, yet they say to us, ‘Make bricks!’ Look, your servants are being beaten, but it is your own people who are at fault.”
Exodus 5:17 - But he said, “You are slackers. Slackers! That is why you are saying, ‘Let us go sacrifice to the Lord.’
Exodus 5:18 - Now get to work. No straw will be given to you, but you must produce the same quantity of bricks.”
