  • Ezekiel 13:6 - Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent them, they say, “The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words.
  • Ezekiel 13:7 - Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken?
  • Ezekiel 13:8 - “ ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign Lord.
  • Ezekiel 13:9 - My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.
  • Ezekiel 13:10 - “ ‘Because they lead my people astray, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,
  • Ezekiel 13:11 - therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.
  • Ezekiel 13:12 - When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, “Where is the whitewash you covered it with?”
  • Ezekiel 13:13 - “ ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury.
  • Ezekiel 13:14 - I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the Lord.
  • Ezekiel 13:15 - So I will pour out my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, “The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it,
  • Ezekiel 13:16 - those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Sovereign Lord.” ’
  • Jeremiah 6:13 - “From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
  • Jeremiah 6:14 - They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.
  • Jeremiah 23:32 - Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the Lord. “They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,” declares the Lord.
  • Hosea 4:6 - my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
  • Hosea 4:7 - The more priests there were, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their glorious God for something disgraceful.
  • Hosea 4:8 - They feed on the sins of my people and relish their wickedness.
  • Jeremiah 14:13 - But I said, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! The prophets keep telling them, ‘You will not see the sword or suffer famine. Indeed, I will give you lasting peace in this place.’ ”
  • Jeremiah 14:14 - Then the Lord said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds.
  • Jeremiah 14:15 - Therefore this is what the Lord says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine.
  • Matthew 7:15 - “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
  • Jeremiah 23:9 - Concerning the prophets: My heart is broken within me; all my bones tremble. I am like a drunken man, like a strong man overcome by wine, because of the Lord and his holy words.
  • Jeremiah 23:10 - The land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched and the pastures in the wilderness are withered. The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly.
  • Jeremiah 23:11 - “Both prophet and priest are godless; even in my temple I find their wickedness,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 23:12 - “Therefore their path will become slippery; they will be banished to darkness and there they will fall. I will bring disaster on them in the year they are punished,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 23:13 - “Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.
  • Jeremiah 23:14 - And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that not one of them turns from their wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”
  • Jeremiah 23:15 - Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets: “I will make them eat bitter food and drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”
  • Jeremiah 23:16 - This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 23:17 - They keep saying to those who despise me, ‘The Lord says: You will have peace.’ And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’
  • Ezekiel 44:7 - In addition to all your other detestable practices, you brought foreigners uncircumcised in heart and flesh into my sanctuary, desecrating my temple while you offered me food, fat and blood, and you broke my covenant.
  • Ezekiel 44:8 - Instead of carrying out your duty in regard to my holy things, you put others in charge of my sanctuary.
  • 1 Samuel 2:12 - Eli’s sons were scoundrels; they had no regard for the Lord.
  • 1 Samuel 2:13 - Now it was the practice of the priests that, whenever any of the people offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come with a three-pronged fork in his hand while the meat was being boiled
  • 1 Samuel 2:14 - and would plunge the fork into the pan or kettle or caldron or pot. Whatever the fork brought up the priest would take for himself. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to Shiloh.
  • 1 Samuel 2:15 - But even before the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come and say to the person who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast; he won’t accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
  • 1 Samuel 2:16 - If the person said to him, “Let the fat be burned first, and then take whatever you want,” the servant would answer, “No, hand it over now; if you don’t, I’ll take it by force.”
  • 1 Samuel 2:17 - This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.
  • Jeremiah 27:14 - Do not listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying lies to you.
  • Jeremiah 27:15 - ‘I have not sent them,’ declares the Lord. ‘They are prophesying lies in my name. Therefore, I will banish you and you will perish, both you and the prophets who prophesy to you.’ ”
  • Jeremiah 8:10 - Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
  • 2 Corinthians 11:13 - For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
  • Revelation 19:20 - But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
  • Isaiah 9:15 - the elders and dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail.
  • Isaiah 56:10 - Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.
  • Isaiah 56:11 - They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, they seek their own gain.
  • Isaiah 56:12 - “Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.”
  • Lamentations 2:14 - The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading.
  • Jeremiah 5:31 - The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?
  • Micah 3:5 - This is what the Lord says: “As for the prophets who lead my people astray, they proclaim ‘peace’ if they have something to eat, but prepare to wage war against anyone who refuses to feed them.
  • Micah 3:6 - Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them.
  • Jeremiah 23:25 - “I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’
  • Jeremiah 23:26 - How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?
  • Jeremiah 23:27 - They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name through Baal worship.
  • Malachi 2:8 - But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,” says the Lord Almighty.
  • Hosea 9:7 - The days of punishment are coming, the days of reckoning are at hand. Let Israel know this. Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired person a maniac.
  • Ezekiel 22:26 - Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
