  • Nahum 3:12 - All your fortresses are fig trees with figs that ripened first; when shaken, they fall — right into the mouth of the eater!
  • Nahum 3:13 - Look, your troops are like women among you; your land’s city gates are wide open to your enemies. Fire will devour the bars of your gates.
  • Nahum 3:14 - Draw water for the siege; strengthen your fortresses. Step into the clay and tread the mortar; take hold of the brick-mold!
  • Nahum 3:15 - The fire will devour you there; the sword will cut you down. It will devour you like the young locust. Multiply yourselves like the young locust; multiply like the swarming locust!
  • Nahum 3:16 - You have made your merchants more numerous than the stars of the sky. The young locust strips the land and flies away.
  • Nahum 3:17 - Your court officials are like the swarming locust, and your scribes like clouds of locusts, which settle on the walls on a cold day; when the sun rises, they take off, and no one knows where they are.
  • Nahum 3:18 - King of Assyria, your shepherds slumber; your officers sleep. Your people are scattered across the mountains with no one to gather them together.
  • Nahum 3:19 - There is no remedy for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news about you will clap their hands because of you, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
  • Isaiah 2:12 - For a day belonging to the Lord of Armies is coming against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up — it will be humbled —
  • Isaiah 2:13 - against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up, against all the oaks of Bashan,
  • Isaiah 2:14 - against all the high mountains, against all the lofty hills,
  • Isaiah 2:15 - against every high tower, against every fortified wall,
  • Isaiah 2:16 - against every ship of Tarshish, and against every splendid sea vessel.
  • Isaiah 2:17 - The pride of mankind will be brought low, and human loftiness will be humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.
  • Ezekiel 31:17 - They too descended with it to Sheol, to those slain by the sword. As its allies they had lived in its shade among the nations.
  • Amos 6:1 - Woe to those who are at ease in Zion and to those who feel secure on the hill of Samaria — the notable people in this first of the nations, those the house of Israel comes to.
