1 Kings 17:1 - Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”
1 Kings 17:2 - Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah:
1 Kings 17:3 - “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.
1 Kings 17:4 - You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”
1 Kings 17:5 - So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
1 Kings 17:6 - The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
1 Kings 17:7 - Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
1 Kings 17:8 - Then the word of the Lord came to him:
1 Kings 17:9 - “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.”
1 Kings 17:10 - So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?”
1 Kings 17:11 - As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”
1 Kings 17:12 - “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”
2 Samuel 21:1 - During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the Lord. The Lord said, “It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death.”
Joel 1:10 - The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up; the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the olive oil fails.
Joel 1:11 - Despair, you farmers, wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed.
Jeremiah 14:1 - This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:
Ezekiel 14:21 - “For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem my four dreadful judgments—sword and famine and wild beasts and plague—to kill its men and their animals!
Joel 1:16 - Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes— joy and gladness from the house of our God?
Joel 1:17 - The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods. The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up.
Joel 1:18 - How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
Joel 1:19 - To you, Lord, I call, for fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.
Joel 1:20 - Even the wild animals pant for you; the streams of water have dried up and fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness.
1 Kings 18:2 - So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria,
Judges 2:16 - Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders.
Judges 2:17 - Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. They quickly turned from the ways of their ancestors, who had been obedient to the Lord’s commands.
Judges 2:18 - Whenever the Lord raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the Lord relented because of their groaning under those who oppressed and afflicted them.
Amos 4:6 - “I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord.
Ezekiel 14:13 - “Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its people and their animals,
Psalm 105:16 - He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food;
Genesis 43:1 - Now the famine was still severe in the land.
Judges 17:8 - left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way he came to Micah’s house in the hill country of Ephraim.
2 Kings 8:1 - Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine in the land that will last seven years.”
2 Kings 8:2 - The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.
Genesis 12:10 - Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.
Genesis 26:1 - Now there was a famine in the land—besides the previous famine in Abraham’s time—and Isaac went to Abimelek king of the Philistines in Gerar.
