  • Psalms 57:1 - Be good to me, God—and now! I’ve run to you for dear life. I’m hiding out under your wings until the hurricane blows over. I call out to High God, the God who holds me together. He sends orders from heaven and saves me, he humiliates those who kick me around. God delivers generous love, he makes good on his word.
  • Psalms 76:1 - God is well-known in Judah; in Israel, he’s a household name. He keeps a house in Salem, his own suite of rooms in Zion. That’s where, using arrows for kindling, he made a bonfire of weapons of war.
  • Psalms 45:1 - My heart bursts its banks, spilling beauty and goodness. I pour it out in a poem to the king, shaping the river into words: * * *
  • Psalms 17:6 - I call to you, God, because I’m sure of an answer. So—answer! bend your ear! listen sharp! Paint grace-graffiti on the fences; take in your frightened children who Are running from the neighborhood bullies straight to you.
  • Psalms 22:1 - God, God . . . my God! Why did you dump me miles from nowhere? Doubled up with pain, I call to God all the day long. No answer. Nothing. I keep at it all night, tossing and turning.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 - How? you ask. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.
  • Isaiah 45:24 - All who have raged against him will be brought before him, disgraced by their unbelief. And all who are connected with Israel will have a robust, praising, good life in God!
  • Psalms 25:16 - Look at me and help me! I’m all alone and in big trouble.
  • Psalms 40:1 - I waited and waited and waited for God. At last he looked; finally he listened. He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God. More and more people are seeing this: they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God.
