  • Psalms 78:31 - The anger of God rose against them And killed some of their strongest ones, And subdued the choice men of Israel.

  • Psalms 78:29 - So they ate and were well filled, And He satisfied their longing.
  • Psalms 78:30 - Yet before they had abandoned their longing, While their food was in their mouths,
  • Psalms 78:31 - The anger of God rose against them And killed some of their strongest ones, And subdued the choice men of Israel.
  • Psalms 78:32 - In spite of all this they still sinned And did not believe in His wonderful works.
  • Psalms 78:33 - So He brought their days to an end in futility, And their years to an end in sudden terror.
  • Psalms 78:34 - When He killed them, then they sought Him, And they returned and searched diligently for God;
  • Psalms 78:35 - And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.
  • Psalms 78:36 - But they flattered Him with their mouth And lied to Him with their tongue.
  • Psalms 78:37 - For their heart was not steadfast toward Him, Nor were they faithful with His covenant.
  • Psalms 78:38 - But He, being compassionate, forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them; And often He restrained His anger And did not stir up all His wrath.
  • Psalms 78:39 - So He remembered that they were only flesh, A wind that passes and does not return.
  • Psalms 78:40 - How often they rebelled against Him in the wilderness And grieved Him in the desert!
  • Psalms 78:41 - Again and again they tempted God, And pained the Holy One of Israel.
  • Psalms 78:42 - They did not remember His power, The day when He redeemed them from the enemy,
  • Psalms 78:43 - When He performed His signs in Egypt And His marvels in the field of Zoan,
  • Psalms 78:44 - And turned their rivers to blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink.
  • Psalms 78:45 - He sent swarms of flies among them that devoured them, And frogs that destroyed them.
  • Psalms 78:46 - He also gave their crops to the grasshopper And the product of their labor to the locust.
  • Psalms 78:47 - He destroyed their vines with hailstones And their sycamore trees with frost.
  • Psalms 78:48 - He also turned their cattle over to the hailstones, And their herds to bolts of lightning.
  • Psalms 78:49 - He sent His burning anger upon them, Fury and indignation and trouble, A band of destroying angels.
  • Psalms 78:50 - He leveled a path for His anger; He did not spare their souls from death, But turned their lives over to the plague,
  • Psalms 78:51 - And struck all the firstborn in Egypt, The first and best of their vigor in the tents of Ham.
  • Psalms 78:52 - But He led His own people out like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock;
  • Psalms 78:53 - He led them safely, so that they did not fear; But the sea engulfed their enemies.
  • Psalms 78:54 - So He brought them to His holy land, To this hill country which His right hand had gained.
  • Psalms 78:55 - He also drove out the nations from them And apportioned them as an inheritance by measurement, And had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
  • Psalms 78:56 - Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God And did not keep His testimonies,
  • Psalms 78:57 - But turned back and acted treacherously like their fathers; They turned aside like a treacherous bow.
  • Psalms 78:58 - For they provoked Him with their high places And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.
  • Psalms 78:59 - When God heard them, He was filled with wrath And He utterly rejected Israel;
  • Psalms 78:60 - So that He abandoned the dwelling place at Shiloh, The tent which He had pitched among people,
  • Psalms 78:61 - And He gave up His strength to captivity And His glory into the hand of the enemy.
  • Psalms 78:62 - He also turned His people over to the sword, And was filled with wrath at His inheritance.
  • Psalms 78:63 - Fire devoured His young men, And His virgins had no wedding songs.
  • Psalms 78:64 - His priests fell by the sword, And His widows could not weep.
  • Psalms 78:65 - Then the Lord awoke as if from sleep, Like a warrior overcome by wine.
  • Psalms 78:66 - He drove His adversaries backward; He put on them an everlasting disgrace.
  • Psalms 78:67 - He also rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
  • Psalms 78:68 - But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.
  • Psalms 78:69 - And He built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has established forever.
  • Psalms 78:70 - He also chose His servant David And took him from the sheepfolds;
  • Psalms 78:71 - From the care of the ewes with nursing lambs He brought him To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance.
  • Psalms 78:72 - So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them with his skillful hands.
  • Psalms 105:27 - They performed His wondrous acts among them, And miracles in the land of Ham.
  • Psalms 105:28 - He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words.
  • Psalms 105:29 - He turned their waters into blood, And caused their fish to die.
  • Psalms 105:30 - Their land swarmed with frogs Even in the chambers of their kings.
  • Psalms 105:31 - He spoke, and a swarm of flies And gnats invaded all their territory.
  • Psalms 105:32 - He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.
  • Psalms 105:33 - He also struck their vines and their fig trees, And smashed the trees of their territory.
  • Psalms 105:34 - He spoke, and locusts came, And creeping locusts, beyond number,
  • Psalms 105:35 - And they ate all the vegetation in their land, And ate the fruit of their ground.
  • Psalms 105:36 - He also fatally struck all the firstborn in their land, The first fruits of all their vigor.
  • Psalms 105:37 - Then He brought the Israelites out with silver and gold, And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.
  • Psalms 105:38 - Egypt was glad when they departed, For the dread of them had fallen upon the Egyptians.
  • Psalms 105:39 - He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire to illumine by night.
  • Psalms 105:40 - They asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
  • Psalms 105:41 - He opened the rock and water flowed out; It ran in the dry places like a river.
  • Psalms 105:42 - For He remembered His holy word With His servant Abraham;
  • Psalms 105:43 - And He led out His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout.
  • Psalms 105:44 - He also gave them the lands of the nations, So that they might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
  • Psalms 105:45 - And that they might keep His statutes And comply with His laws; Praise the Lord!
  • Joshua 3:14 - So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan, with the priests carrying the ark of the covenant before the people,
  • Joshua 3:15 - and when those who were carrying the ark came up to the Jordan and the feet of the priests carrying the ark stepped down into the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest),
  • Joshua 3:16 - then the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho.
  • Joshua 3:17 - And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.
