Acts 4:20 - There’s nothing else we can do. We have to speak about the things we’ve seen and heard.”
Acts 4:21 - The leaders warned them again. Then they let them go. They couldn’t decide how to punish Peter and John. They knew that all the people were praising God for what had happened.
Acts 4:22 - The man who had been healed by the miracle was over 40 years old.
Acts 4:23 - Peter and John were allowed to leave. They went back to their own people. They reported everything the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
Acts 4:24 - The believers heard this. Then they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Lord and King,” they said, “you made the heavens, the earth and the sea. You made everything in them.
Acts 4:25 - Long ago you spoke by the Holy Spirit. You spoke through the mouth of our father David, who served you. You said, “ ‘Why are the nations angry? Why do the people make useless plans?
Acts 4:26 - The kings of the earth rise up. The rulers of the earth gather together against the Lord and against his anointed king.’ ( Psalm 2:1 , 2 )
Acts 4:27 - In fact, Herod and Pontius Pilate met with the Gentiles in this city. They also met with the people of Israel. All of them made plans against your holy servant Jesus. He is the one you anointed.
Acts 4:28 - They did what your power and purpose had already decided should happen.
Acts 4:29 - Now, Lord, consider the bad things they say they are going to do. Help us to be very bold when we speak your word.
Acts 4:30 - Stretch out your hand to heal. Do signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:31 - After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit. They were bold when they spoke God’s word.
Luke 21:12 - “But before all this, people will arrest you and treat you badly. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison. You will be brought to kings and governors. All this will happen to you because of my name.
Luke 21:13 - And so you will be witnesses about me.
Luke 21:14 - But make up your mind not to worry ahead of time about how to stand up for yourselves.
Luke 21:15 - I will give you words of wisdom. None of your enemies will be able to withstand them or prove them wrong.
Luke 21:16 - Even your parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends will hand you over to the authorities. The authorities will put some of you to death.
Luke 21:17 - Everyone will hate you because of me.
Luke 21:18 - But not a hair on your head will be harmed.
Luke 21:19 - Remain strong in the faith, and you will receive eternal life.
Hebrews 13:6 - So we can say boldly, “The Lord helps me. I will not be afraid. What can mere human beings do to me?” ( Psalm 118:6 , 7 )
Psalm 68:19 - Give praise to the Lord. Give praise to God our Savior. He carries our heavy loads day after day.
Psalm 68:20 - Our God is a God who saves. He is the King and the Lord. He saves us from death.
Isaiah 12:2 - God, you are the one who saves us. We will trust in you. Then we won’t be afraid. Lord, you are the one who gives us strength. You are the one who keeps us safe. Lord, you have saved us.”
Matthew 5:10 - Blessed are those who suffer for doing what is right. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
Matthew 5:11 - “Blessed are you when people make fun of you and hurt you because of me. You are also blessed when they tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me.
Matthew 5:12 - Be joyful and glad. Your reward in heaven is great. In the same way, people hurt the prophets who lived long ago.
Isaiah 51:7 - “Listen to me, you who know what is right. Pay attention, you who have taken my instruction to heart. Do not be afraid when mere human beings make fun of you. Do not be terrified when they laugh at you.
Isaiah 51:12 - The Lord says to his people, “I comfort you because of who I am. Why are you afraid of mere human beings? They are like grass that dries up.
Matthew 10:28 - Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Romans 8:17 - As his children, we will receive all that he has for us. We will share what Christ receives. But we must share in his sufferings if we want to share in his glory.
2 Timothy 2:11 - Here is a saying you can trust. If we died with him, we will also live with him.
2 Timothy 2:12 - If we don’t give up, we will also rule with him. If we say we don’t know him, he will also say he doesn’t know us.
2 Thessalonians 1:5 - All of this proves that when God judges, he is fair. So you will be considered worthy to enter God’s kingdom. You are suffering for his kingdom.
2 Thessalonians 1:6 - God is fair. He will pay back trouble to those who give you trouble.
1 Peter 4:12 - Dear friends, don’t be surprised by the terrible things happening to you. The trouble you are having has come to test you. So don’t feel as if something strange were happening to you.
1 Peter 4:13 - Instead, be joyful that you are taking part in Christ’s sufferings. Then you will have even more joy when Christ returns in glory.
1 Peter 4:14 - Suppose people say bad things about you because you believe in Christ. Then you are blessed, because God’s Spirit rests on you. He is the Spirit of glory.
2 Timothy 1:7 - God gave us his Spirit. And the Spirit doesn’t make us weak and fearful. Instead, the Spirit gives us power and love. He helps us control ourselves.
2 Timothy 1:8 - So don’t be ashamed of the message about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, his prisoner. Instead, join with me as I suffer for the good news. God’s power will help us do that.
