1 Chronicles 23:25 - For David had said, “Since the Lord, the God of Israel, has granted rest to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever,
1 Chronicles 23:26 - the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service.”
1 Chronicles 23:27 - According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.
1 Chronicles 23:28 - The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.
1 Chronicles 23:29 - They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the special flour for the grain offerings, the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.
1 Chronicles 23:30 - They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening
1 Chronicles 23:31 - and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the Lord on the Sabbaths, at the New Moon feasts and at the appointed festivals. They were to serve before the Lord regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.
1 Chronicles 23:32 - And so the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.
1 Chronicles 23:3 - The Levites thirty years old or more were counted, and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.
1 Chronicles 23:4 - David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge of the work of the temple of the Lord and six thousand are to be officials and judges.
1 Chronicles 23:5 - Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose.”
2 Kings 11:4 - In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the commanders of units of a hundred, the Carites and the guards and had them brought to him at the temple of the Lord. He made a covenant with them and put them under oath at the temple of the Lord. Then he showed them the king’s son.
2 Kings 11:5 - He commanded them, saying, “This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath—a third of you guarding the royal palace,
2 Kings 11:6 - a third at the Sur Gate, and a third at the gate behind the guard, who take turns guarding the temple—
2 Kings 11:7 - and you who are in the other two companies that normally go off Sabbath duty are all to guard the temple for the king.
2 Kings 11:8 - Station yourselves around the king, each of you with weapon in hand. Anyone who approaches your ranks is to be put to death. Stay close to the king wherever he goes.”
2 Kings 11:9 - The commanders of units of a hundred did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each one took his men—those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty—and came to Jehoiada the priest.
2 Kings 11:10 - Then he gave the commanders the spears and shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of the Lord.
2 Kings 11:11 - The guards, each with weapon in hand, stationed themselves around the king—near the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple.
2 Kings 11:12 - Jehoiada brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him; he presented him with a copy of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him, and the people clapped their hands and shouted, “Long live the king!”
Ephesians 6:10 - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Ephesians 6:11 - Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Ephesians 6:12 - For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:13 - Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:14 - Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
Ephesians 6:15 - and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Ephesians 6:16 - In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Ephesians 6:17 - Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:18 - And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Numbers 4:23 - Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting.
