  • Deuteronomy 11:30 - As you know, those mountains are across the Jordan River. They are on the west side of the Jordan toward the setting sun. They are near the large trees of Moreh. The mountains are in the territory of the Canaanites, who live in the Arabah Valley near Gilgal.
  • Deuteronomy 11:31 - You are about to go across the Jordan River. You will enter the land and take it over. The Lord your God is giving it to you. You will take it over and live there.
  • Deuteronomy 11:32 - When you do, make sure you obey all the rules and laws I’m giving you today.
  • Exodus 13:9 - When you celebrate this holy day, it will be like a mark on your hand. It will be like a reminder on your forehead. This law of the Lord must be on your lips. The Lord used his mighty hand to bring you out of Egypt.
  • Exodus 34:15 - “Be careful not to make a peace treaty with the people living in the land. They commit sin by offering sacrifices to their gods. They will invite you to eat their sacrifices, and you will do it.
  • Exodus 34:16 - You will choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons. And those daughters will commit sin by worshiping their gods. Then they will lead your sons to do the same thing.
  • Deuteronomy 29:19 - Some people who worship those gods will hear the promise that seals the covenant I’m making. They think they can escape trouble by what they’re saying. They say, “We’ll be safe, even though we’re stubborn and go our own way.” But they will bring trouble on the whole land.
  • Jeremiah 9:14 - Instead, they have done what their stubborn hearts wanted them to do. They have worshiped the gods that are named Baal. They have done what their people have taught them to do through the years.”
  • Deuteronomy 4:23 - Be careful. Don’t forget the covenant the Lord your God made with you. Don’t make for yourselves a statue of any god at all. He has told you not to. So don’t do it.
  • Deuteronomy 6:6 - The commandments I give you today must be in your hearts.
  • Deuteronomy 6:7 - Make sure your children learn them. Talk about them when you are at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road. Speak about them when you go to bed. And speak about them when you get up.
  • Deuteronomy 6:8 - Write them down and tie them on your hands as a reminder. Also tie them on your foreheads.
  • Deuteronomy 6:9 - Write them on the doorframes of your houses. Also write them on your gates.
  • Psalm 106:39 - The people made themselves impure by what they had done. They weren’t faithful to the Lord.
  • Ecclesiastes 11:9 - You young people, be happy while you are still young. Let your heart be joyful while you are still strong. Do what your heart tells you to do. Go after what your eyes look at. But I want you to know that God will judge you for everything you do.
  • Proverbs 28:26 - Those who trust in themselves are foolish. But those who live wisely are kept safe.
  • Job 31:7 - Suppose my steps have turned away from the right path. Suppose my heart has wanted what my eyes have seen. Or suppose my hands have become ‘unclean.’
  • Proverbs 3:1 - My son, do not forget my teaching. Keep my commands in your heart.
  • Ezekiel 6:9 - You will be taken away to those nations as prisoners. Those of you who escape will remember me. You will recall how much pain your unfaithful hearts gave me. You turned away from me. Your eyes longed to see the statues of your gods. You will hate yourselves because of all the evil things you have done. I hate those things too.
  • Psalm 73:27 - Those who don’t want anything to do with you will die. You destroy all those who aren’t faithful to you.
