  • 2 Chronicles 16:14 - He was buried in the tomb he had carved out for himself in the City of David. He was laid on a bed perfumed with sweet spices and fragrant ointments, and the people built a huge funeral fire in his honor.
  • Mark 14:8 - She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time.
  • Matthew 28:1 - Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.
  • Matthew 28:2 - Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it.
  • Matthew 28:3 - His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow.
  • Matthew 28:4 - The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.

  • Matthew 28:7 - And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”
  • Matthew 28:8 - The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.
  • Matthew 28:9 - And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.
  • Matthew 28:10 - Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”
  • John 19:31 - It was the day of preparation, and the Jewish leaders didn’t want the bodies hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath, because it was Passover week). So they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down.

  • Mark 15:47 - Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where Jesus’ body was laid.
  • John 20:1 - Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.
  • John 20:2 - She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”
  • John 20:3 - Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb.
  • John 20:4 - They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
  • John 20:5 - He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in.
  • John 20:6 - Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there,
  • John 20:7 - while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings.
  • John 20:8 - Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—
  • John 20:9 - for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.
  • John 20:10 - Then they went home.
  • Mark 15:40 - Some women were there, watching from a distance, including Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James the younger and of Joseph ), and Salome.
