  • Ezekiel 18:21 - “But suppose a sinful person turns away from all the sins they have committed. And they obey all my rules. They do what is fair and right. Then you can be sure they will live. They will not die.
  • Ezekiel 18:22 - None of the sins they have committed will be held against them. Because of the godly things they have done, they will live.
  • Ezekiel 18:23 - When sinful people die, it does not give me any joy,” announces the Lord and King. “But when they turn away from their sins and live, that makes me very happy.

  • Ezekiel 18:26 - Suppose a godly person stops doing what is right. And they sin. Then they will die because of it. They will die because of the sin they have committed.
  • Ezekiel 18:27 - But suppose a sinful person turns away from the evil things they have done. And they do what is fair and right. Then they will save their life.
  • Ezekiel 18:28 - They think about all the evil things they have done. And they turn away from them. So you can be sure they will live. They will not die.
  • Ezekiel 18:29 - But the Israelites still say, ‘What the Lord does isn’t fair.’ People of Israel, what I do is always fair. What you do is not.
  • Ezekiel 18:30 - “So I will judge you Israelites. I will judge each of you in keeping with what you have done,” announces the Lord and King. “Turn away from your sins! Turn away from all the evil things you have done. Then sin will not bring you down.
  • Ezekiel 18:31 - Get rid of all the evil things you have done. Let me give you a new heart and a new spirit. Then you will be faithful to me. Why should you die, people of Israel?
  • Ezekiel 18:32 - When anyone dies, it does not give me any joy,” announces the Lord and King. “So turn away from your sins. Then you will live!
  • Ezekiel 24:7 - “The blood Jerusalem’s people spilled is inside its walls. They poured it out on a bare rock. They did not pour it on the ground. If they had, dust would have covered it up.
  • Ezekiel 24:8 - So I put their blood on the bare rock. I did not want it to be covered up. I poured out my great anger on them. I paid them back.”
  • Ezekiel 24:9 - So the Lord and King said to me, “How terrible it will be for this city! It has so many murderers in it. I too will pile the wood high.
  • Deuteronomy 19:13 - Don’t feel sorry for him. He has killed someone who hadn’t done anything wrong. Crimes like that must be punished in Israel. Then things will go well with you.
  • Psalm 109:12 - May no one be kind to them or take pity on the children they leave behind.
  • Psalm 109:13 - May their family line come to an end. May their names be forgotten by those who live after them.
  • Psalm 109:14 - May the Lord remember the evil things their fathers have done. May he never erase the sins of their mothers.
  • Psalm 109:15 - May the Lord never forget their sins. Then he won’t let people remember the names of my enemies anymore.
  • Psalm 109:16 - They never thought about doing anything kind. Instead, they drove those who were poor and needy to their deaths. They did the same thing to those whose hearts were broken.
  • Psalm 109:17 - They loved to curse others. May their curses come back on them. They didn’t find any pleasure in giving anyone their blessing. May no blessing ever come to them.
  • Psalm 109:18 - They cursed others as easily as they put on clothes. Cursing was as natural to them as getting a drink of water or putting olive oil on their bodies.
  • Psalm 109:19 - May their curses cover them like coats. May their curses be wrapped around them like a belt forever.
  • Exodus 20:5 - Do not bow down to them or worship them. I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. I cause the sins of the parents to affect their children. I will cause the sins of those who hate me to affect even their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
  • Numbers 35:33 - “ ‘Do not pollute the land where you are. Murder pollutes the land. Only one thing can pay to remove the pollution in the land where murder has been committed. The blood of the one who spilled another’s blood must be spilled.
  • Matthew 23:30 - And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of those who lived before us, we wouldn’t have done what they did. We wouldn’t have helped to kill the prophets.’
  • Matthew 23:31 - So you are witnesses against yourselves. You admit that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets.
  • Matthew 23:32 - So go ahead and finish the sins that those who lived before you started!
  • Matthew 23:33 - “You nest of poisonous snakes! How will you escape from being sentenced to hell?
  • Matthew 23:34 - So I am sending you prophets, wise people, and teachers. You will kill some of them. You will nail some to a cross. Others you will whip in your synagogues. You will chase them from town to town.
  • Matthew 23:35 - So you will pay for all the godly people’s blood spilled on earth. I mean from the blood of godly Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berekiah. Zechariah was the one you murdered between the temple and the altar.
  • Matthew 23:36 - What I’m about to tell you is true. All this will happen to those who are now living.
  • Matthew 23:37 - “Jerusalem! Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and throw stones in order to kill those who are sent to you. Many times I have wanted to gather your people together. I have wanted to be like a hen who gathers her chicks under her wings. And you would not let me!
  • Deuteronomy 19:10 - Do it to protect those not guilty of murder. Then you won’t spill their blood in your land. It’s the land the Lord your God is giving you as your own.
  • 1 Kings 2:32 - The Lord will pay him back for the blood he spilled. Joab attacked two men. He killed them with his sword. And my father David didn’t even know anything about it. Joab killed Abner, the son of Ner. Abner was the commander of Israel’s army. Joab also killed Amasa, the son of Jether. Amasa was the commander of Judah’s army. Abner and Amasa were better men than Joab is. They were more honest than he is.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:15 - The Jews who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets also forced us to leave. They do not please God. They are enemies of everyone.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:16 - They try to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles. These Jews don’t want the Gentiles to be saved. In this way, these Jews always increase their sins to the limit. God’s anger has come on them at last.
  • Acts 7:52 - Was there ever a prophet your people didn’t try to hurt? They even killed those who told about the coming of the Blameless One. And now you have handed him over to his enemies. You have murdered him.
  • Hebrews 10:28 - Suppose someone did not obey the law of Moses. And suppose two or three witnesses made charges against them. That person would die without mercy.
  • Hebrews 10:29 - People who deserve even more punishment include those who have hated the Son of God. They include people who have said no to him. They include people who have treated as unholy the blood of the covenant that makes them holy. They also include people who have disrespected the Holy Spirit who brings God’s grace. Don’t you think people like this should be punished more than anyone else?
  • Hebrews 10:30 - We know the God who said, “I am the God who judges people. I will pay them back.” ( Deuteronomy 32:35 ) Scripture also says, “The Lord will judge his people.” ( Deuteronomy 32:36 ; Psalm 135:14 )
  • Acts 5:28 - “We gave you clear orders not to teach in Jesus’ name,” he said. “But you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching. You want to make us guilty of this man’s death.”
  • Joshua 2:19 - None of you must go out into the street. If you do, anything that happens to you will be your own fault. We won’t be responsible. But if anyone hurts someone who is inside the house with you, it will be our fault. We will be responsible.
