  • Acts 28:21 - Then they said to him, “We haven’t received any letters about you from Judea. None of the brothers has come and reported or spoken anything evil about you.
  • Acts 28:22 - But we want to hear what your views are, since we know that people everywhere are speaking against this sect.”
  • Acts 28:23 - After arranging a day with him, many came to him at his lodging. From dawn to dusk he expounded and testified about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them about Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets.
  • Acts 28:24 - Some were persuaded by what he said, but others did not believe.
  • Acts 28:25 - Disagreeing among themselves, they began to leave after Paul made one statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah
  • Acts 28:26 - when he said, Go to these people and say: You will always be listening, but never understanding; and you will always be looking, but never perceiving.
  • Acts 28:27 - For the hearts of these people have grown callous, their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.
  • Acts 28:28 - Therefore, let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.”
  • Psalms 22:22 - I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters; I will praise you in the assembly.
  • Acts 13:46 - Paul and Barnabas boldly replied, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first. Since you reject it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles.
  • Psalms 40:9 - I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; see, I do not keep my mouth closed  — as you know, Lord.

  • Luke 4:20 - He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.
  • Luke 4:21 - He began by saying to them, “Today as you listen, this Scripture has been fulfilled.”
  • Luke 4:22 - They were all speaking well of him and were amazed by the gracious words that came from his mouth; yet they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”
  • Luke 4:23 - Then he said to them, “No doubt you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Doctor, heal yourself. What we’ve heard that took place in Capernaum, do here in your hometown also.’”
  • Luke 4:24 - He also said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown.
  • Luke 4:25 - But I say to you, there were certainly many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months while a great famine came over all the land.
  • Luke 4:26 - Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them except a widow at Zarephath in Sidon.
  • Luke 4:27 - And in the prophet Elisha’s time, there were many in Israel who had leprosy, and yet not one of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”
  • Luke 4:28 - When they heard this, everyone in the synagogue was enraged.
  • Luke 4:29 - They got up, drove him out of town, and brought him to the edge of the hill that their town was built on, intending to hurl him over the cliff.
  • Luke 4:30 - But he passed right through the crowd and went on his way.
  • Matthew 2:23 - Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.
  • Matthew 4:23 - Now Jesus began to go all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
  • John 1:11 - He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.
  • Mark 6:1 - He left there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.
  • Mark 6:2 - When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished. “Where did this man get these things?” they said. “What is this wisdom that has been given to him, and how are these miracles performed by his hands?
  • Mark 6:3 - Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us?” So they were offended by him.
  • Mark 6:4 - Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his household.”
  • Mark 6:5 - He was not able to do a miracle there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.
  • Mark 6:6 - And he was amazed at their unbelief. He was going around the villages teaching.
  • Matthew 7:28 - When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
  • John 7:15 - Then the Jews were amazed and said, “How is this man so learned, since he hasn’t been trained?”
  • John 7:16 - Jesus answered them, “My teaching isn’t mine but is from the one who sent me.
